Another Ford government scandal. The Premier's office allegedly demanded coverage from Postmedia in exchange for approval of government funds.

The premier’s then-chief of staff, Patrick Sackville, had communicated to Rob Godfrey that he would approve Keel Digital’s proposal for a new three-year agreement with the Ministry of Colleges and Universities, but “in the meantime, the Premier needed a favour from Postmedia,” it said.

“It was understood that… if Postmedia did not print the letter to voters that Mr. Sackville would not be motivated to take the steps to ensure the three-year proposal was approved,” he alleged.

Since he was elected, the Ford government has been promoting the privatization of our colleges and universities—with massive cuts to our public institutions and even coercing some public colleges to sell their names and credibility to private career colleges.

Just seven career colleges accounted for about $385 million in OSAP grants in 2024-25, the same amount that went to students at all of Ontario’s publicly funded colleges.

The government is finally taking action—two years after concerns were raised by auditors.

Workers at 5 child care sites operated by Ideal Child Services Group have been locked out.

CUPE2484 members are asking for fair wages that are comparable to other childcare centres in the city and that address the high cost of living in Toronto, better protections when they are sick or injured, and staffing practices that support continuity and consistency for children.
