Where style becomes cinema. 🎬🇮🇹

We are thrilled to announce that FASHION FRAMES, curated by Stefano Dominella and styled by Guillermo Mariotto, is coming to Toronto. And it’s coming to us.

This is a journey through the elegance and creativity that characterise Italian fashion: an exclusive selection of gowns from the most prestigious houses in Italy, each one worn by an iconic actress who changed the way the world got dressed.

Think Sophia Loren’s red dress in “Pane, amore e…” Anita Ekberg in the Trevi Fountain. Audrey Hepburn’s empire line in “War & Peace.” Gina Lollobrigida teaching Hollywood what a Roman cut looks like.

Italy dressed the entire world, from Hollywood divas to the great figures of international history. In the 1950s, Rome became the “Hollywood on the Tiber,” and Italian couture changed everything. This exhibition tells that story, one gown at a time.

Introducing our new series: Word of the Week - Parola della Settimana 🇮🇹

Every week we’ll bring you one Italian word that English never quite managed to translate.

This week: struggimento.

That deep, consuming ache of longing for something or someone you can’t quite reach. It’s the feeling at the heart of every great Italian opera, every Leopardi poem, every long Sunday phone call home.

English has “heartache.” Italy has struggimento. There’s a difference.

Which word in your language comes closest? Tell us below. 👇

Registration for our Italian language courses opens *JUNE 23rd* head to the link in bio for info on levels, schedules, and how to sign up. We hope to see you at the IIC very soon. 🇮🇹

E così si chiude l’ultimo capitolo. 📖🇮🇹

Today we turned the final page of *L’Italia in Libri*, our book club of shared reading, conversation, and a little bit of Italian creative magic, right here at 496 Huron Street.

What started in May as an experiment in reading together became something much better: a room full of people who showed up, week after week, ready to be surprised by what Italian literature can do to a Tuesday evening.

To everyone who joined us, grazie di cuore. You made this chapter worth reading.

If you missed out this time, don’t dog-ear this page and forget about it. The story doesn’t end here.

We’ve got a whole bookshelf of events coming up at IIC. The next chapter is already written — you just need to show up.

A presto and see you at the next one. 🍁🇮🇹

Buon Mese del Patrimonio Italiano, Canada. 🇮🇹🍁

Over 1.5 million Italians call Canada home. They came with their recipes, their dialects, their stubbornness, and their extraordinary capacity for beauty - and they built something here that is entirely its own.

Italian Heritage Month is not just a look back. It’s a recognition that Italian-Canadian culture is alive, evolving, and still shaping this country in architecture, cuisine, design, film, language, and community.

All month, the IIC Toronto will be celebrating. The piazza is open. 🇮🇹

Tell us in the comments: what’s one Italian tradition, word, or memory that you carry with you? We want to hear your story this month.
