Festival & Crowded Area Safety Tips Keep your personal belongings safe while enjoying festivals, concerts, fairs, malls, and other busy public spaces:
* Carry only what you need. Leave unnecessary valuables at home.
* Keep your phone and wallet secure. Use a zipped pocket, crossbody bag, or bag worn securely in front of you.
* Keep bags closed and in front of your body in crowded areas.
* Avoid putting valuables in back pockets where they can be easily accessed.
* Stay aware of your surroundings.Distractions can make it easier for someone to take your belongings.
* Don’t leave your phone, purse, backpack, or other valuables unattended, even for a moment.
* Be cautious around distractions. If someone bumps into you, spills something, or creates an unusual distraction, check your belongings.
* Don’t display large amounts of cash or expensive jewelry.
* Use a secure location for your phonerather than holding it loosely while moving through crowds.
* Keep important identification and payment cards separate when possible.
* If you lose something, act quickly.Report missing cards, identification, or phones and use tracking features where available.
* Have a plan to stay connected. Arrange a meeting place with friends in case you become separated.
Remember: Stay alert, secure your belongings, and enjoy the event safely!

Congratulations to Constable Hoang and Sergeant Watt for receiving Members of the Week!
On August 13, 2025, a frantic parent called 31 Division to report that her six-year-old son was limp and not breathing.
On their way home from his birthday celebration, she said he was in the back seat sucking on a lolly pop when he started to choke.
Constable Hoang,a 26-year veteran, who was on duty at the front desk, took the call and quickly broadcast the caller’s location as a hotshot on the air.
Sergeant Jermaine Watt who was in the area, quickly arrived on scene, finding the boy lifeless. He performed three back strikes followed by one Heimlich maneuver and the boy started to breathe and cry.
Constable Hoang was able to keep a panicked mother calm enough to communicate relevant information, while Sergeant Watt, a 20-year officer, executed his First Aid training flawlessly to get the boy breathing. safety

A truly deserving Community Champion!
Congratulations to Sandra Farina on receiving the 31 Division Community Champion Award!
Sandra, your impact on our community goes far beyond words. Whether you’re renting moving trucks for a tamily in need, collecting toys and food to make Christmas brighter for local families, or quietly stepping up throughout the year to help someone who needs a hand-you are always there.
You give your time, your energy, and your heart to our community, expecting nothing in return. The difference you make in people’s lives is felt by so many.
Thank you, Sandra, for everything you do and for reminding us what it truly means to be a community champion.
Congratulations—you are so deserving of this recognition.

A special thank you to Greenwin Cares for their generous donation of anti-theft zipper clips. These clips help prevent pickpockets from secretly unzipping bags in crowded areas and stop zippers from sliding open accidentally, providing an added layer of safety and peace of mind.
We truly appreciate the continued support of our community partners. Your generosity helps us promote crime prevention and community safety initiatives throughout 31 Division.
