The reconstruction of Maple Leaf Gardens into the Mattamy Athletic Centre represents the failed attempt to commemorate a legendary Toronto landmark. While bastardizing the legacy through the commercial use of these sacred grounds as a grocery store.

Button.com refers to the reconstruction of Maple Leaf Gardens as "Remodernization". Urban society and developers put a higher value towards modernizing older buildings rather than honouring the foundations of the city. I do not believe we should idealize the defilement of what should be known as a historical landmark.
