Regent Park Film Festival Regent Park Film Festival (RPFF) is a non-profit cultural and educational media arts organization. Always FREE & Accessible.

In addition to our annual festival, we offer year-round screenings, workshops & community events at no cost. Regent Park is an area in transition, largely populated by new immigrants and Aboriginal Peoples. Created in 2003, Regent Park Film Festival (RPFF) is Toronto's ONLY free-of-charge community film festival dedicated to showcasing local and international independent works relevant to resident

s of the largest and oldest public housing in Canada. The films we present reflect key themes such as, immigration, inner city issues, poverty, sexuality, urban redevelopment,cultural identity and multicultural relationships. RPFF’s principle activity is to organize an annual festival along with year-round school and community screenings, panel discussions, performances and professional training at no cost. The festival aims to reach isolated communities throughout Regent Park and beyond and provide a forum for them to engage in critical dialogue on social issues and to enjoy films from all over the world.

Inspired by an interior design aesthetic called immigrant clutter core, our 2025 Festival design honours the homes we grew up in that were filled with pictures, knicknacks, keepsakes, and trinkets—each meaningful and ordinary, distinctly cultural and universally normal.

We are so honoured to co-present this incredibly moving film with The Toronto Palestine Film Festival! Through tender moments, quiet humour, and human connection, PASSING DREAMS explores themes of memory, belonging, and resilience in the face of displacement.

The Sep. 27 screening will be accompanied by I WITNESS SILWAN, a four-minute short documenting a powerful public art project (iwitnesssilwan.org) that transforms walls into sites of resistance and remembrance.

OUR EMERGING DIRECTORS’ PITCH COMPETITION IS BACK! Open to emerging and mid-career BIPOC filmmakers, we’re inviting pitches for unscripted, documentary shorts ​that are 12-25 minutes in length​. ​We’re thrilled to partner with CBC again this year to ​o​pen the door for talented​, new filmmakers!

The winn​ing filmmaker will receive a development deal ​tailored for CBC’s Short Docs 2026 programming slate, as well as a fantastic prize package from our generous industry partners—we’re excited to ​share more​ details about it in the coming weeks!

We highly encourage submissions by filmmakers from historically-marginalized communities (​i​ndividuals who identify as ​Indigenous, racialized, 2SLGBTQIA+, and/or as persons with a disability) and films that feature these communities.

​Visit rpff.ca/edp for more information, and ​please read carefully through ​t​he filmmaker eligibility and pitch guidelines BEFORE submitting your application to ensure you and your pitch idea meet the required criteria.

Selected finalists will pitch their ideas live in front of a panel of experts and our film-loving community on Friday, November 28 ​d​uring the 23rd Annual Regent Park Film Festiva​l​.

Applications are due on ​Sunday, September 14 @ 11:59pm.

Bollywood heart meets modern rom-com chaos in our July 23rd screening, where marriage, culture, and familial expectations collide in the funniest, sweetest ways, all while embracing the various nuances of navigating the different forms love and family can appear as.

We’re giving away 2 tickets to see Scarborough’s own THE WEEKND at the Rogers Centre on Monday, July 28! Each donation of $25 to rpff.ca/donate will get you one entry in our contest. Every donation makes a difference, but for those who can contribute a little extra, we offer bonus entries as a small thank you.

For every $100, you’ll receive one extra entry on top of the usual four.

That means:
⭐ $100 = 5 entries
⭐ $200 = 10 entries
⭐ $300 = 15 entries
…and so on.

All proceeds go directly to RPFF’s mission to amplify and center racialized communities and their stories, while opening up access to the film and television industry through year-round programming. Help us make art accessible for all.
