Ontario Cultural Attractions Funds / Fonds pour les manifestations culturelles de l'Ontario is a program of the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries investing in cultural tourism events. • The Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund was established in 1999 as a $20 million initiative to assist Ontario's cultural and heritage organizations in capitalizing on the potential of excit

ing and innovative exhibitions and events.

• OCAF is open to large and small not-for-profit cultural and heritage organizations in all parts of Ontario.

• OCAF invests in good ideas: the Fund helps cultural and heritage organizations increase and diversify their earned revenue sources by attracting tourists and other visitors to new attractions and special events.

• OCAF helps reduce the financial risk of creating new ventures by providing up-front working capital in the form of partially-repayable loans.

• OCAF investment is directed towards the marketing and promotional costs of the new attraction or special event.

• Loan repayments are used to invest in future events.

First of its kind contemporary art trail prepares for a public sneak peek in Toronto

Lassonde Art Trail launches this June in Biidaasige Park. Can’t wait? Some projects are already on view

Billed as a free destination for contemporary art, the Lassonde Art Trail (LAT) was made possible through a $25 million donation made by mining investor and philanthropist Pierre Lassonde in 2022. The trail is, on the surface, an outdoor sculpture gallery at Biidaasige Park: a string of 15 exhibition sites along a 4.2 km path. But according to LAT’s artistic director and chief curator November Paynter, there’s no other attraction in Canada quite like it.

“It’s the first holistically curated public-art program embedded in a very specific site,” she explains, “and the site itself is so unique.”

KINGSVILLE HIGHLAND GAMES receives $20,000 in provincial funding.

Published: April 10, 2026

An exciting funding announcement for the Kingsville Highland Games.

The Highland Games have received a $20,000 funding grant through the provincial government's Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund (OCAF).

This funding will be used to advertise the 2026 games to the community.

The 2025 Highland Games were postponed due to scheduling conflicts.

This year's event is expected to feature fan favourites such as tug of war competitions, sheep herding, hammer events, caber toss, pipe band competitions and more.

Doug Plumb, Chair of the Kingsville Highland Games, says the financial support is incredible.

"This is quite a large event, and with the help of the province, and with the help of the Town of Kingsville, and all our generous sponsors that have private businesses here, and individuals... they've made it possible."

He says after the event was postponed last year, everyone seems very excited.

"We've had a lot of support, a lot of pre-sold tickets which is always a good sign when people want to buy a ticket this far in advance. So, it seems like the event is taking right off. Colasanti's is also helping to give us a spot, and they've been a tremendous help."

Plumb says tug of war will be the big event.

"We have a team coming from Northern Ireland, and also one from Nova Scotia, and one from Cornwall, and every place in between there as well... so that's going to be a big draw."

The event will take place on June 27 at Colasanti's Tropical Gardens.

This event has been financially assisted by the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund a program of the Government of Ontario for the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming, administered by the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund Corporation.
