Each year Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto serves more than 1500 children and youth by matching them with a mentor and facilitating life-changing relationships that inspire and empower them to reach their full potential. By doing this, we are supporting our communities which leads to a reduction in poverty and unemployment, safer schools and neighbourhoods. In 2013, we will celebrate 100 years of mentoring! For many 2SLGBTQIA+ youth, finding someone who truly understands them can change everything.
One trans mentee shared how meaningful it was to see their mentor, who is a trans adult, thriving in a happy, healthy relationship while pursuing their education and building a life they are proud of.
Before entering the program, the mentee’s parent said their child rarely spoke about the future, unsure of what was possible for them.
But through that connection, something shifted.
Inspired by their mentor’s journey, the mentee began to imagine a future of their own and decided to pursue a post-secondary degree in the arts.

Your support helps connect more 2SLGBTQIA+ youth with affirming mentors and safe spaces where they can truly belong.

Through It’s a Match, every donation made before June 11 will be doubled up to $60,000.
