🏳️‍🌈 Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈

This month is both a celebration and a powerful reminder of the progress that has been made, as well as the ongoing work required to advance, protect, and uphold 2SLGBTQIA+ rights and freedoms.

At RTCC, we celebrate the diversity, resilience, and contributions of 2SLGBTQIA+ activists, allies, and communities, whose courage, advocacy, and leadership continue to inspire positive change.

Together, let’s continue building community rooted in compassion, fairness, and belonging, while advocating for the rights, dignity, and well-being of every individual.

Wishing everyone a meaningful, inspiring, and joyful Pride—however and whenever you choose to celebrate this year! 💛 🧡 ❤️ 💜 💙 💚 🤍 🤎 🖤

🚨RTCC Building: Water Shut Off Notice🚨

Please note that water service at the Ralph Thornton Community Centre (RTCC) will be shut off on Thursday, May 28 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM (or until repairs are complete). This is due to essential maintenance work on a water line servicing the building. 🚱 💦

Over the past few months, our fantastic Tax Clinic Coordinators and an amazing team of volunteers have been hard at work filing taxes for low-income households in our community. 📝 📒

We'd like to thank everyone who helped promote our free Tax Clinic and recognize the incredible results achieved by these volunteers! 🥳

They have returned a total of $670,678.44 to 242 local community members! 💰 That is an average of $2,771 per person back into the pockets of our community members.

Thank you and a round of applause for the wonderful people who made this possible 👏

While the RTCC Tax Clinic is now closed, you can find a local tax clinic here 🔗 https://buff.ly/iadXOjq

Today is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People in Canada.

Held annually on May 5, it is a time to remember and honour those who are missing or have been murdered, and to stand against this ongoing violence. It is also a day of education and action—calling on all of us to learn, listen, and support justice.

Also known as Red Dress Day, this day is rooted in the REDress Project, an art installation created by Métis artist Jaime Black. The project features red dresses displayed in public spaces across Canada and the United States, serving as a powerful visual reminder of the staggering number of Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit, and gender-diverse people who are no longer with us.

As you move through the city today, you may see red dresses, red handprints, and community gatherings symbolizing remembrance and resistance. We encourage you to explore the resources below, show your support, and stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities.
