As we still feel the effects of the pandemic, many small businesses could still use some assistance from the federal government.

The Green Party will extend wage and rent subsidies until COVID-19 pandemic-related restrictions are fully lifted.

The Green Party of Canada will Introduce laws that incentivize green investment and the creation of green jobs (such as in sustainable transport and energy efficiency), and that disincentivize unsustainable investments (such as by raising taxes on environmentally harmful goods and services).

The Green Party will Invest in the cleantech sector and in renewable energy, which will create more, and higher paying jobs than those lost in the fossil fuel sector.

The Green Party of Canada has a plan to ensure that every person living in Canada has the financial means to live with dignity, security, and a high quality of life. Building on the Market Basket Measure, payment would be set at a “livable” level for different regions of
the country. The federal government would provide an initial base level subsidy across the country, and an intergovernmental body would determine and administer the necessary supplemental amounts.

Adrian Currie: Universal Basic Income (also known as the GLI) is a policy whose time has come and it’s time for the federal government to act on it. The pandemic has shown that many people in Davenport could use some assistance each month to make ends meet. Canada has the resources and the ability to help each of us, especially the most vulnerable and mostly women, who are often the caregivers in the family.

Affordable Housing is a real issue in Davenport and it’s something the federal government must take seriously. The Green Party will reinvest in affordable, non-profit, co-operative and supportive housing. We will expand the Rapid Housing Initiative to bring new affordable and supportive housing on-stream without delay.
