Consulate General of India, Toronto hosted a seminar on โEmpowering Indian Women in Canadaโ to raise awareness about the One Stop Centre for Women (OSCW) and the support available to Indian women facing difficult or challenging circumstances in Canada.
The OSCW provides a comprehensive support mechanism, including access to legal assistance, counselling, consular guidance and community-based support, helping women navigate difficult situations with dignity, confidence and care.
Consul General Mahaveer Singhvi encouraged Indian women to reach out to the OSCW whenever they need assistance, emphasising that no woman should hesitate to seek help. He also highlighted the importance of strengthening partnerships between the Consulate, community organisations, law-enforcement agencies and service providers to build a stronger and more responsive support network.
The seminar brought together stakeholders working closely with women and vulnerable communities, including Peel Regional Police, Elspeth Heyworth Centre for Women, Sai Dham Food Bank, South Asian Womenโs Centre, Humans for Harmony and ONHealth Alliance etc.
The Consulate remains committed to ensuring the safety, dignity, welfare and empowerment of the Indian community in Canada.
