True hero’s!!!

This week, January 19 to 25, is Emergency Shelter & Homelessness Service Worker Appreciation Week in Toronto ❤️🏠— a time to honour the frontline workers who show up every day with compassion, skill and determination in support of our unhoused community members.

In a city where over 10,000 people are experiencing homelessness, these workers are a vital lifeline, meeting people where they are and ensuring access to respectful, non-judgemental and equitable support and essential services because everyone deserves care, and the dignity and the safety of a roof over their heads. Their work not only supports people who are unhoused or precariously housed — it strengthens the health, safety, and wellbeing of our entire city.

At Fife House, we are proud to be part of that safety net. Each year, we support over 1,300 community members through our various programs like transitional housing and Linkage to Care, grounded in the belief that housing and care are human rights.

We can’t believe Project Winter Survival was already a week ago ❄️

This cold morning feels a little better stepping into the cold, knowing the impact we made last week keeping people warm on the streets.

The polar vortex has arrived in the GTA ❄️ and the cold isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

With temperatures dropping to -13°C and wind chills making it feel closer to -24°C, this Arctic air is more than uncomfortable it’s dangerous for people experiencing homelessness. As this cold pattern settles in for the rest of January, access to warm winter essentials becomes critical.

This is why we do what we do. 🧤🧣 Every kit packed and every donation made helps provide warmth, dignity, and protection when it’s needed most.

Help us make an impact. Donate today or start your own kit packing journey with us to get winter warmth essentials directly into the hands of those who need them most.

Together, we can turn freezing temperatures into moments of care and compassion.
