MEET THE PANELISTS!

Meet Elisha Tuyikeze (he/him)

“My name is Elisha and I am originally from Burundi but I have been living in BC, Canada since 2018. I just completed my BA from UBC with a major in Psychology and minor in African Studies. In May 2023, I will start an MA in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at Adler University. The SRP has significantly changed so many people's lives, so I am excited to be a part of this SRP awareness event. In my free time, you will find me on a soccer field playing soccer or watching soccer games at home. I also enjoy listening to psychology podcasts: WorkLife with Adam Grant is my favourite so far.”

REMINDER: If you are interested in learning more about the SRP and want to meet the panelists, then you have to come to our upcoming event “Who You Were Yesterday.” Join us on Tuesday, March 21st from 6 to 9 pm in the SLC 3rd floor, DMZ Sandbox.

Register on ConnectRU or eventbrite, both links are available in our bio.

MEET THE PANELISTS!

Meet Sara Kuwatly (she/they)

Sara Kuwatly is a program officer at WUSC. She is currently based in Hamilton, Ontario but was born in Damascus, Syria, and lived there until her family was forced to leave in 2013. After that, she lived in Beirut, Lebanon for three years until 2016 when she was sponsored by the Student Refugee Program at WUSC. She went to the University of Guelph to study Molecular Biology and Genetics, and graduated with honours in 2021. She works with WUSC as a program officer for the Student Refugee Program, and a big part of her job entails selecting students from the Middle East and helping them on their journey to Canada. The Student Refugee Program has been a huge part of her life, and she is excited to be joining us today to share her insight.

Outside of her filmmaking work, she is a Communications Manager for a Toronto-based non-profit, and an avid Liverpool FC supporter. Heather's journey with WUSC started 10 years ago when she joined the York University Local Committee and served as Co-Chair for 3 years.
