Hong Kong strikes gold at the 𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬🥇! Boccia star Vivian Lau gave Team Hong Kong, China its first gold of the games (Oct 21) by winning the Women's Individual-BC4 event, while teammates Yeung Hiu-lam, Leung Yuk-wing and Cheung Yuen each took silver in the Women's Individual-BC2, Men's Individual-BC4 and Women's Individual-BC4 events respectively. John Loung grabbed the boccia team’s fifth medal of the day by taking bronze in the Men's Individual-BC1.
In the pool🏊‍♀️, Ng Cheuk-yan powered to silver in the Women's 50m Butterfly S7 with a personal best, and Hung Wing-long claimed bronze in the Men's 100m Breaststroke SB14. Fencing stars Yu Chui-yee and Tong Nga-ting also added bronze medals in the Women's Epee Individual Category A and Category B events🤺. 1 gold, 4 silvers and 4 bronze medals in one day — Team Hong Kong, China continues to shine!

The 2026 ASEAN Economic Cooperation Organization Finance Ministers' Meeting (Finance Ministers' Meeting) was successfully held in Hong Kong! The Finance Ministers' Meeting on October 21 issued the "2026 ASEAN Finance Ministers Joint Statement", reaffirming their commitment to building an open, vibrant, resilient, and peaceful ASEAN community by 2040, and to engage in in-depth discussions on issues such as finance policy, digital infrastructure financing, and inclusive finance development. This is the first Finance Ministers' Meeting to be held in Hong Kong, and the participating representatives also visited the Hong Kong Museum of Art and the Hong Kong Museum of Cultural Affairs, taking a boat tour of Victoria Harbour to experience the unique charm of Hong Kong firsthand. The Finance Ministers' Meeting was successfully held in Hong Kong, fully demonstrating Hong Kong's unique advantages as an international financial center, backed by its motherland and connected to the world. Hong Kong will continue to play the role of a "super connector" and "super value-added" to deepen exchanges and cooperation with ASEAN economic entities, contributing to the development of regional economic and financial development.

Historic occasion for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) as the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Finance Ministers' Meeting 2026 gets underway in the city for the first time (Oct 20-21). Finance ministers and representatives from APEC member economies and international organizations gathered yesterday for the start of the two-day event, aiming to strengthen economic and financial co-operation across the Asia-Pacific. Key topics included the global and regional macroeconomic outlook, fiscal policies supporting households, digital infrastructure financing, and financial access for all. HKSAR Financial Secretary Paul Chan highlighted Hong Kong's role as a "super connector" and "super value-adder", leveraging its unique advantages under "one country, two systems" to connect capital, technology and projects across the region, fostering more resilient, sustainable and inclusive growth.

Delegates also took time to explore Hong Kong's cultural heritage and vibrant cityscape through visits to the Xiqu Centre, the Peak, the Chinese Culinary Institute and Ocean Park, experiencing the city’s blend of tradition and modernity.

Medal rush continues for Team Hong Kong, China! Nine more medals added yesterday (Oct 20) at the 𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 bring the team’s total to 12 — four silvers and eight bronze medals. Huge congrats to fencing athletes Chung Yuen-ping, Lam Ka-man, Tong Nga-ting and Yu Chui-yee on claiming silver in the Women's Foil Team🤺, and to the table tennis squad for an incredible seven-medal day🏓. At the table, Chiu Kan-shan and Wong Ting-ting took silver in Women's Singles - Class 7 and Class 11 respectively, while bronze medals went to Wong Hon-lam and Wong Chi-yin in the Men's Singles Class 9, and Pang Wing-ka, Wong Yue-ching and Lam Yan-yu in the Women's Singles Class 6, 7 and 10 respectively.
