Project Work supports people like Margaret in securing and succeeding in employment.

Margaret came to Project Work after being out of the workforce for many years. She had spent more than a decade taking care of her children and grandchildren, and although she dreamed of returning to work one day, as the years went on, she often wondered if that could be a reality. After joining Project Work’s Supported Employment Program in 2017, Margaret went on to find full time employment with (Chartwells at Parkside Student Residence). She joined their team as a dishwasher and worked for a short time in food service.

Today Margaret is a full-time member of the team who has been awarded “Employee of the Month” twice in the past two years. Margaret has also been in a position of training other staff at Parkside and continues to be a star employee.

“For over 2 years, Margaret has been working for Chartwells (food service provider) at Parkside Student Residence in the heart of downtown Toronto. She has been such a reliable and hard-working General Help and we couldn’t ask for a better employee. Ever since we started working with Margaret and Trish (her job coach) we were fully informed on how they do things every step of the way and Trish would always make sure to communicate with us every time Margaret was on a shift and ask for feedback. Everyone on our team loves Margaret because she puts a smile on their faces every day and never fails to complete her tasks on time. Margaret is the best! Both Parkside and Chartwells appreciate Project Work and are proud to be a part of this initiative”
-Christilyn Manzano, General Manager of Chartwells at Parkside Student Residence

“Project Work helped me to find the right job. My Job Coach Dayna helped me with interview skills, raising my confidence and securing a full-time job. I have been awarded “Employee of the Month” twice, in 2018 and 2019. With the help of Project Work and the emotional support from Dayna, I was able to reach my goals”
-Margaret, Project Work Participant
