Ontario’s screen industry is making meaningful progress on sustainability!
The new Action Ontario 2024/2025 Report, commissioned by Ontario Green Screen and prepared by Producing for the Planet, shows that participating Ontario producers reported nearly 1,200 climate actions in 2025, up from just over 800 actions in 2024.
The report highlights encouraging momentum across the sector, including:
✅ Strong leadership in waste reduction and diversion practices
✅ Increased use of local vendors and travel reduction strategies
✅ Significant growth in sustainable storytelling and on-screen climate action
✅ More sustainability planning, training, and dedicated sustainability roles on productions
✅ Growing adoption of practices that reduce both environmental impact and production costs
As Canada’s largest production jurisdiction, Ontario is helping demonstrate that sustainable production is not only possible but increasingly becoming standard practice.
While the results are encouraging, the report also identifies opportunities to strengthen training, build sustainability expertise, and further embed climate action into leadership and business practices across the industry.
