Thousands of census employees across the country are helping collect data that are vital to improving the lives of Canadians. These are your family, friends or neighbours making a difference for your community.

If you haven't completed your questionnaire yet and we follow up with you, here’s how to recognize official census communications:

📩 Reminder letters will be sent by mail or delivered in person, which will contain a secure access code to complete the census questionnaire online.

🪪 In person follow-ups will be conducted by employees with an identification card.

📱 Text message reminders may also be sent from the text message short code number 236732.

📞 If a follow-up phone call to a household is needed, the census employees will identify themselves clearly.

Notice of construction: McBride Street and 5th Avenue water and sewer upgrades

Work will include upgrading of underground water, sewer and storm utilities along with road and landscape restoration. Preliminary construction activities have begun, including traffic control setup, survey layout and equipment mobilization. Major works construction activities are scheduled to commence the following week and will include water and sewer utility installation.

During this time 5th Ave. between the McBride St. / 5th Ave. intersection and the Rockland / 5th Ave. intersection will be closed except for local traffic only. The estimated duration for this closure is 6 weeks. Space is needed to complete the infrastructure and utility upgrades, having less congestion will allow a safer environment for the public, residents and construction crew.

Residents are asked to:

Trail City Council will consider a motion at the May 25, 2026, regular council meeting on whether to discuss and determine its support for the establishment of an overdose prevention site, either at a fixed location or as a mobile overdose prevention service in the City of Trail.

This upcoming meeting is not a public hearing for any specific project or development application. The purpose of this agenda item is for council to discuss and consider whether it supports the concept in principle and to better understand how these services are defined, delivered and regulated.

At this stage, residents can expect a general council-level discussion. There is no current proposal for a specific site or service location under consideration. No immediate changes to services, locations or operations in the community will result from this meeting.
