Uisge Ban Falls Provincial Park has reopened

Water levels have receded and Uisge Ban Falls park and trail has reopened for visitors.

Graves Island closing early for causeway construction

Graves Island Provincial Park closed for the season on September 7th. The boat launch will close on September 15th. The early closure is needed for significant upgrades to the Graves Island causeway. The causeway will be rebuilt one meter higher than the existing infrastructure to protect the park from the impacts of flooding, erosion, and rising sea levels. The causeway project is expected to be completed in advance of the 2027 park season. During the closure there will be no access to Graves Island.

Rainbow Haven Beach Closed for Construction
Starting on September 8, Rainbow Haven Beach will be closed for construction. The project will include improvements to the water and septic systems as well as parking lot upgrades to improve vehicle circulation, accessibility, and drainage. The core washroom facility will be upgraded with additional storage space built for the lifeguards. Access to the park will be restricted during construction and the park gates will be closed. During the closure, visitors are encouraged to go to Lawrencetown Beach or Martinique Beach. These improvements will make Rainbow Haven Beach more enjoyable for years to come.

The Nova Scotia Lifeguard Service provides beach supervision from July 1 to August 30.
Supervision will be provided at Lawrencetown Beach on Labour day weekend September 5 – 7 and September 12-13.

Following satisfactory water retests, the swimming advisory has been lifted for Lawrencetwon Beach and Rainbow Haven Beach, HRM.

We are excited to celebrate Canada's Parks Day with you on Saturday July 18th! We encourage everyone to visit a park near you this weekend, where you can enjoy hiking, swimming, and more.

Participating parks will offer a range of family-friendly, nature-themed activities from scavenger hunts to games with prizes.
