Attention Beachgoers
From mid April to August each year piping plovers and other migratory shorebirds return to Nova Scotia beaches. When you visit the beach this season, please respect wildlife and give them their space.

Here’s how you can help protect nesting coastal birds:
- Give the birds at least 100 m of space
- Avoid the upper dry sand areas and walk on the wet sand
- Always keep pets on leash at Provincial Parks and beaches
- Pack out your trash

Piping plovers and other shorebirds nest directly on open beaches. Their eggs and chicks are easy to miss and can be accidentally disturbed by people and pets. If you see a roped off area on a beach, please avoid the area to give the birds space to nest, feed, and rest.

Thank you for booking with Nova Scotia Parks!

Over 17,500 reservations were made during the two-day launch, a 4.6% increase over 2025. This represents nearly 50% of the overnight stays expected for the year and the most reservations made during the opening period since 2023. This year bookings were made by 70% Nova Scotians, 22% from other parts of Canada and 8% international visitors. We're excited to welcome campers from Nova Scotia and beyond to enjoy our beautiful parks.

Campsites are still available across the province - check back often for cancellations at popular parks or set up notifications to find out when sites become available. Once a park opens for reservations, campsite bookings can be made throughout the season. Use the Notify Me and Flexible Dates features to help find a campsite at https://novascotia.goingtocamp.com
