** UPDATE **

Queen Street is closed From Waddell to Lorne Street Friday October 23. Detours are in place and the closure will be in affect until noon when it will switch to single lane closure for the remainder of the day.

Queen Street (between Church and Lorne Street) will be reduced to one lane on Friday October 23 from 5:00am to 5:00pm while Public Works crews install water and sanitary services.

Traffic Control will be in place. Please use an alternate route if possible.

The Nova Scotia Regulatory and Appeals Board (UARB) will hold a public hearing regarding an appeal of Town Council’s decision to refuse a development agreement for a proposed 155-unit residential development on or near Lower Truro Road.

The Town of Truro is working closely with Truro Farmers’ Market staff and the Board of Directors to plan the removal of the hose tower at the Market Hall, following a demolition order based on a structural engineering assessment.

The assessment determined that the tower needs to be removed down to the roofline of the Market Hall. Planning is underway to complete this work in the new year, with ongoing communication between the Town and the Market to coordinate timing and minimize disruptions to vendors, customers and market operations.

Further details about timing and potential impacts will be shared as plans are finalized.

The Town will continue working with Market staff and the Board of Directors to keep vendors and visitors informed as plans move forward.

𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖 𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗬 | 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁 - 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟲, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

Please be advised that Queen Street (between McLellan St and Elizabeth St) will each be reduced to one lane starting the week of October 26, and continuing periodically for three weeks to complete repairs to street and sidewalk around the railway. The work will begin at 7:00am daily and continue throughout each day.

Traffic Control will be in place, please use alternate routes where possible.

Take notice that Town Council will hold a public hearing to consider and, if deemed appropriate, approve the following development agreement application:

Development Agreement Application by ZZAP Consulting on behalf of Lanshaw Construction to permit a 5-storey multi-unit residential development consisting of 42 dwelling units and two levels of parking within a structure at 149 Kaulback Street (PID No. 20166567)

This public hearing will be held on Monday, November 2, 2026 in the Council Chambers on the 3rd floor of the Town Hall, 695 Prince Street.
At the public hearing, Council will consider oral and written representations from any interested persons. If you wish to make a formal presentation, please submit a written request no later than October 27, 2026.

The Town of Truro is preparing to begin processing accumulated storm debris from Hurricane Fiona at the Water Treatment Plant Road site off Young Street.

The Town has contracted BioBurn Pros to process the clean wood waste on-site using an air curtain burner. This project is expected to begin the week of October 19, 2026.

Air curtain technology uses high-pressure air to support intense combustion, helping reduce smoke and particulate matter. The process also produces biochar, which can have potential uses as a soil additive.

This project will help reduce wildfire risk near community infrastructure, neighbouring First Nation lands, residential communities and Victoria Park, while diverting thousands of tonnes of organic material from landfill.

The work is another step toward addressing the storm debris left behind by Hurricane Fiona and supporting more sustainable waste management practices.

Public Works crews will be working on Esplanade Street on Monday, October 19th and Tuesday, October 20th and Wednesday, October 21st from 8AM until 4PM.

Esplanade Street will be closed from Havelock Street to Outram Street with detours in place.
