Seeding progress in some parts of the province is delayed due to flooding and spring moisture. We understand how this can make planning and field work challenging.

Under the Crop Insurance Program, our recommended seeding dates are based on average days to maturity by crop, typical first fall frost dates and location in the province. These seeding dates help ensure crops have the best opportunity to reach maturity under normal growing conditions. Recommended seeding dates vary by crop and location and can be confirmed using our Seeding Date Tool.

Crops remain insurable when seeded between the recommended seeding dates and the final seeding deadline of June 20. Losses throughout the season that are not related to the seeding date, like drought, disease, wind and hail are all insured. If you seed later than the recommended seeding date, your claim may be reduced if your crops suffer losses related to late seeding that are abnormal compared to other producers in the area. No liability is accepted for crops seeded after June 20.
