Ever feel like someone is judging your life choices? 👀
Meet the Merlin. Tiny, fast, and apparently not impressed with whatever you’re doing. 😂
Merlins are fierce little falcons that can be spotted across Grasslands National Park. And judging by this face, they have some very strong opinions about your birdwatching technique.

📸 Got a photo of a Merlin? Share it with us!
Just remember: admire wildlife from a respectful distance and let our feathered friends keep their opinions to themselves. 🦅

September on the prairie is basically nature's version of "one last adventure before winter." 🍂☀️
The days are cooler, the skies are full of migrating birds, and the snakes are making their annual commute back to their winter dens. (Rush hour looks a little different out here. 🐍)
As you explore the park this month:
🦅 Keep an eye on the skies for migrating birds.
🐍 Watch the roads and trails for snakes soaking up the last bits of warmth.
🚗 Slow down, stay alert, and give wildlife the space they need to get where they're going.
They're just trying to make it home before the cold sets in. Thanks for helping them arrive safely!

Earlier this summer, a visitor captured some amazing shots with his long lense of a Burrowing Owl parent trying to scare away a badger who was uncomfortably close to it’s family’s nest. Thanks P. Kuelker for sharing your photos.

Ever have one of those moments where you just stand there questioning every life choice you've ever made?
🦫 This black-tailed prairie dog gets it.
While they're busy keeping watch for predators, checking in with the neighbours, and contemplating the mysteries of the prairie, remember: the best way to enjoy these tiny comedians is from a respectful distance.
👀 Wildlife viewing tips:
• Give prairie dogs plenty of space—zoom with your camera, not your feet.
• Stay on designated roads and trails.
• Never feed wildlife (their meal plan is already sorted).
The less we interrupt their daily existential crisis, the more natural behaviours you'll get to see. And trust us, prairie dog drama is worth the wait. 🌾
