Cam Brewer for Leader of the BC Greens

As a community organizer, lawyer, entrepreneur, accountant, environmental activist and professor, I have spent nearly 30 years uniting people to create solutions. In challenging times, I believe the BC Greens can rise to the occasion, expand support, and offer a practical plan for a nature-led transition to a just economy and society. My experience as an environmental leader has prepared me to lead the BC Greens. I was Co-Founder and President of the Eco-Lumber Co-op, Director of Smart Growth BC, LEED Manager at the Canada Green Building Council, Certification Manager at the Silva Forest Foundation, Controller for Greenpeace Canada, Founder and principal of a sustainability consulting firm, and Co-Chair of the VanCity Community Foundation. As a lawyer, I clerked at the BC Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Canada, represented sovereign states in New York at one of the world’s top law firms, and acted pro bono at Columbia University’s Sabin Center for Climate Change Law.I brought those skills back to BC. Since returning to Vancouver, I’ve represented Indigenous people, fought the Trans Mountain pipeline, and taught environmental law at SFU. The climate emergency, rising inequality, and stalled Indigenous reconciliation demand action. In the face of this pandemic and economic uncertainty the world will not be the same.
