2nd alarm fire at Hastings and Salisbury. Engine 1, Ladder 1, Batt 1 in on the 1st alarm assignment

TOLFR had their hands full last night with this monster fire at 208th St and 80th Ave . Cudos go out to Langley RCMP for starting evacuations and getting people to safety. Thankfully there were no injuries reported.

Together with Firehall #15’s Crews and the other half of the Technical Rescue Team from Firehall #9, Firehall #1’s Tech Team assisted in the Departments first ever Trench Rescue call. Kudos to Battalion #2, Chief Primorano, BCAS’ ALS and P*P members and of course the VPD. This team effort resulted in a successful rescue.

Crews worked overnight to free the worker, who suffered serious lower-body injuries.

Including the 11 Vancouver Forwfighters that gave their lives during the Great War of World War 1.

Busy week yet again for A-Shift at Firehall #1 and for Vancouver Firefighters throughout the City.
A 2nd alarm house fire on Woodland Dr and then the 3rd alarm yesterday on Main and Broadway. The second 3rd alarm fire in a week and a bit.

RIP Capt Steve Letourneau. He will he missed.

Capt. Steve Letourneau was diagnosed with work-related cancer four-and-a-half years ago. He received a medal Tuesday at city hall for 35 years of service.
