Vancouver Career Development Club

Vancouver Career Development Club Want to meet like-minded professionals? Do you wish to achieve your professional dreams in Canada? Have you ever struggled with how?

This club intends to help newcomers achieve professional dreams by creating a helpful and accountable community of business leaders that are striving to create more connections, opportunities, and growth. Can you foresee the outcome of great success with an accountable community for your career development or your company? Let's join the Vancouver Career Development Club and create a career legend

together! Hi, I am Candy, a non-profit founder and sales & marketing professional in Canada. I have extensive business experience spanning about 10 years, working for several large companies in a variety of management positions. I graduated from the Business Management program at Douglas College in Canada, and I transferred to the University of British Columbia in 2020. I like to meet great professionals and help others achieve more. Inspired by my mentor, Jennifer Nelson, I founded VCDC to help newcomers achieve their professional dreams. Our goal is to build a supportive network of business leaders, professionals, and dreamers who strive to create more connections, opportunities, and growth. We provide services to help newcomers with career development, networking, staffing, cross-cultural training, and technology upskilling. We also help entrepreneurs grow their businesses, help companies diversify their workforce, and facilitate cross-cultural training. VCDC's services are in kind/free! It's not a practice of making a living by being involved in this club. It's an act of kindness, "the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate" to help others achieve more (Oxford). We meet once a quarter, either virtually or in person. Let's start a new journey of fun, growth and achievement! Do what we love to do and become "what we never thought we would be" (Boorstin)!

You've been scrolling through LinkedIn for months, collecting connections like digital trading cards.

Networking feels like empty —another forced smile, another forgotten business card.

But what if one evening could rewrite your entire professional story?

The Story:
Four years ago, many people felt exactly like you.

Less supported.
Even isolated.
Trapped behind a screen.

Then came that first tiny step.

A virtual meetup.
One shared dream of real connection.

Now the virtual community of 16 strangers has now grown to over 1,200 members.

But something was missing—the human touch.

Fast Forward to December 19, 2024.
We're breaking the digital barrier.

Real faces.
Real conversations.
Real opportunities.

This isn't just another networking event.
This is where your next opportunity is waiting.
Where your professional isolation ends.
Where your next mentor might sit across the table.

"Your network is your net worth" ( Porter Gale).

The Stakes:
Sixteen spots.
Two hours.
One critical rule.

Cactus Café charges the organizer $10 per no-show, which means every empty seat costs VCDC.

Your RSVP isn't just a click.

It's a commitment to yourself and 15 other professionals hungry for genuine connection.

The Cost of Staying Silent:
Another year of scrolling.

Another year of missed connections.

Another year wondering, "What if?"

The Invitation:
16 spots.
2 hours.
Unlimited potential.

Are you ready to step out and truly connect?
RSVP now.

We had a good time helping about 50 newcomers grasp AI-powered job search strategies to enhance their career journey in 2024. One particular topic of whether AI will replace career coaching roles is interesting. While AI coaching offers valuable tools and insights, it was evident that the expertise and personalized guidance provided by career coaches remain essential in navigating the complexities of individual career paths alongside AI technologies. The attendees found this session informative, helpful, and impactful.

Huge thanks to our guest speakers, Gurpreet Mann from GKM Coaching, Luki Danukarjanto from FOCUS.inspired, Yauhan Mehta from Deloitte Canada, for their time, expertise, and engagement with audience, greatly enriching this event.
