Office of the British Columbia Container Trucking Commissioner The Office of the British Columbia Container Trucking Commissioner (OBCCTC) Amended March 13. 2015).

Informed by the recommendations contained in a report authored by Vince Ready and Corinn Bell in October 2014, the Province of British Columbia enacted the Container Trucking Act and Container Trucking Regulation on December 22, 2014 (Reg. The legislation was designated to accomplish:
-Establishes rate regulation for drayage companies service the Port of Vancouver
-Ensures compliance through audi

ts and investigations
-Provides better accountability within and accessibility for the drayage sector

The Act created a BC Container Trucking Commissioner that operates independently from Government and is tasked with:

-Managing the Container Trucking Services Licence
-Investigating, auditing and enforcing compliance with the Act
-Ongoing review of rates, regulations and policy based on consultations with the industry
-Overseeing the confidential Drayage Complaint Line

Truck tags are issued in connection with an OBCCTC CTS licence and are only valid during that licence term.
When the licence term ends, the associated truck tags also expire. The current allocated tags remain in effect until the expiry of the current licence term on November 30, 2026. Tags issued or revoked for the new licence term will not be in effect until December 1, 2026.

OBCCTC Trivia Treat: The Truck Driver Who Reinvented Shipping

Before 1956, loading a ship was a slow and manual process that took a significant amount of time. Everything changed when truck driver and fleet owner Malcom McLean realized it was faster to lift the entire trailer onto a ship than to load its contents piece-by-piece.
This breakthrough slashed loading costs by over 90% and launched the modern intermodal drayage industry.
