🇧🇩💥 Bangladesh Army T-59 Tank Explosion

A tragic accident occurred during a field-firing exercise at the Hathazari Field Firing Range in Chattogram, Bangladesh, when a Chinese-origin Type 59 tank suffered an explosion while soldiers were firing.

Sadly, 2 Bangladesh Army soldiers were killed, while 1 officer was seriously injured and transported to Dhaka for advanced medical treatment.

The exact cause of the explosion has not yet been confirmed, and the Bangladesh Army says an investigation is underway.

The incident raises important questions about the safety, maintenance and reliability of aging armored vehicles used in live-fire exercises. However, it is too early to conclude that the tank itself caused the accident until the official investigation determines what happened.

The Type 59 is an ageing Chinese tank design derived from the Soviet T-54. Bangladesh has operated and upgraded these tanks for decades.
