Below is a little article from 2023. New regulations with moving contaminated material and non-contaminated material here in BC. https://www.harpergrey.com/environmental-law/understanding-bcs-new-soil-relocation-process/
Moving dirt in BC? The rules have changed.

Recent updates to BC’s soil relocation process mean more accountability on every project. From mandatory soil testing on certain sites to new notification requirements before moving “clean” soil, there’s a lot more to think about before the first truck rolls.

If you’re relocating soil from commercial or industrial sites, testing is now required to determine if it’s contaminated.
Moving uncontaminated soil? You may need to submit a Soil Relocation Notification in advance.
And non-compliance can come with serious penalties.

Bottom line: moving dirt isn’t just logistics anymore—it’s compliance.

At FillConnect, we help you navigate sourcing and moving soil smarter, while staying efficient and cost-conscious.

Soil Relocation Working Group - April 13th
Join the conversation.

If you joined us on March 8th, webinar you know that we discussed that the new policy guidelines create more questions and will require more guidelines. Many stakeholders are still unclear on the implications of their current business activities and what changes or adjustments are needed to stay compliant.

There is no precedence for these changes, making it hard to differentiate between guidance and protocols.

That is why we created the BC Soil Relocation Working Group, where you can join the conversation.

In this working group session, you’ll get a chance to share your perspective, processes, and solutions on creating better collaboration within the construction and earthmoving sector.

Changes to soil relocation in British Columbia are coming soon.

We read the Final Policy Paper released by the Government in January 2022 and had lots of questions.

So, we invited an expert to walk us through the changes and possible impact on workflow and budgets.

What we didn't expect was the number of sign-ups!

Over 180 people registered for the webinar, not just from construction companies. We had participants from municipalities, the government, and the private sector.

Watch the webinar replay to find out what changed.

The cradle-to-grave process of ‘mine, fill, excavate, dispose’ is inefficient and environmentally poor. What part of the process do you find the most challenging?
