Join us Saturday and Sunday for our annual pop up covered skate space with many features, ramps and obstacles as well as the opening of the our super popular Green Ramp.

The Vancouver Skateboard Coalition in co-operation with the , , , / , and would like to invite you to our annual Vancouver Youth Week Skate Contest , a free, Skateboard Contest which will take place, rain or shine, on Saturday, May 13th from 1:00 until 4:00pm at The Downtown Skateboard Plaza (under the Georgia Viaduct at the intersection of Union St. and Quebec St.)

As one of the most popular elements of Vancouver Youth Week since 2007, the Skate Contest is a family-friendly celebration of skateboarding and skateboard culture that is geared towards the younger age demographic of Vancouver’s skateboard scene. Featuring begginer, intermediate and advanced divsions for riders 18 and under.

This year’s event will be another fun, exciting, and interactive day for everyone involved.

All competitors must have a waiver signed by a parent of guardian and wear a helmet to participate in the event.

So beyond thankful to have had another year to have our Green Ramp pop-up skateboard ramp on Granville Island.
Sadly, today was our last day of the season.

Thank you so much to amazing people at Granville Island for hosting us again and for providing the skateboard community of Vancouver with such an unbelievable space to set up our ramp and provide a place for so many folk to come, ride and spend time with other members of our community.

Also a humongous thank you to our volunteers who we absolutely could not do this without your help.

We look forward to the opportunity to make this happen again next year !!!!

A great article today online at the CBC talking about the recently approved Vancouver Park Board Skateboard Amenities Strategy and the importance that the approval of this document means to the skateboard community of Vancouver.

The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation has approved CitySkate, a strategy to improve the city's skateboarding infrastructure over the next two decades.

📢 Exciting news for Vancouver's skate community!

Last night Vancouver Park Board unanimously approved CitySkate - a 20 year plan to improve the city's skateboarding amenities. This includes:

🛹 New builds
🛹 Upgrades to existing facilities
🛹 Working with to build skate connections between parks and developing skate-friendly greenways
🛹 Improving partnerships and programming with the community

The strategy is a result of significant engagement with the skate community, which highlighted the important role skateboarding and other small wheeled sports play in strengthening social ties, improving well-being, and building a sense of community amongst participants.

On Saturday June 11th the Ben Raemers Foundation in partnership with Vancouver Skateboard Coalition, Antisocial Skateboard Shop and LivingWorks Education are hosting su***de prevention training for skaters in the Vancouver .

You must sign up to take part.

Over 16 years please unless consent from a guardian.
