via the City of Vancouver:

“As part of Planning Vancouver Together, we’re inviting all those who live, work and play in Vancouver to “map the city” by joining one of our online mapping workshops. Sign up to help the City create ‘Complete Neighbourhoods’ for all – ensuring a strong network of unique, connected places across Vancouver with easy access to daily and weekly needs.

You’ll be invited to create a digital map of places you use and love: favourite shops and cafes, cultural centres, parks, and any other spots that are important to you around the city. We’ll also be asking for input on your neighbourhood and invite you to pinpoint the things that make your part of Vancouver unique, and shape your experience of living there.”

Using the cover of the Cambie and Burrard bridges, we’ve installed four new “rain friendly” pop-up plazas to help you stay dry while enjoying some fresh air during our wet winter months.

The new pop-plazas include picnic and ping pong tables. For ping pong players, we ask that you bring your own paddles and balls.

We hope you enjoy these spaces, but please remember to be COVID safe and keep 2 metres of physical distance from others.

It was an unseasonably cold, but sunny weekend in Vancouver. We hope you, friends and family had a chance to enjoy the outdoors, a fall bike ride, and maybe even a visit to one of our pop-up plazas!

If you did, we’d love to hear your feedback, surveys on our public space initiatives will close at the end of this week.

Final call for responses on these surveys:
- Pop-up plazas
- Robson St sidewalk widening and plaza pilot
- Slow Streets (designated streets provide opportunities for walking, cycling and rolling and make it easier for people to exercise and access businesses in their neighbourhood)

Your input will help us to improve these programs and determine whether they become permanent fixtures in our neighbourhoods.

New plaza art alert! 🚨We worked with Good Night Out Vancouver, Ciele Beau Art + Design, and local BIAs (Downtown Vancouver and Robson Street) to create these funky stickers reminding people to be safe and respectful, and to keep distance in the time of COVID. Check out these pieces at šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl'e7énk Square (Vancouver Art Gallery – North Plaza) and Bute-Robson Plaza.

If you're sharing on socials, don't forget to tag: , , , and depending on location (šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl'e7énk Square) or (Bute-Robson Plaza).

Did you stop by one of our pop-up plazas this summer? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

The future of these pop-up plazas will be decided in the coming weeks and your input on whether the plazas continue on or come back next year is needed via this survey: http://ow.ly/DniM50BDMcb

Pop-up plazas were launched this summer as part of our COVID-19 community and business recovery efforts. The plazas are helping to make use of public space for residents to eat, visit, rest, and enjoy the weather while maintaining a safe distance from others. The picture below is from our plaza at 21st and Main.
