And that’s a wrap on the 3rd Annual Auntie Gala. What a beautiful event to be part of. Our hands go up to all the wonderful aunties who were honoured today. It was an honour to witness the beautiful words shared by your families and friends about each of you.

Thank you to all the organizers and support teams who helped make today’s beautiful Gala possible, including Madelaine McCallum, Len Pierre Consulting, Dusty Yurkin, IRSSS, M’Girl, and our MC for the evening, Bryant Doradea.

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the aunties and honour our loved ones in the spirit world. More pictures to come later on. Until next year!

We would like to acknowledge and recognize the staff of MVAEC without your hard work and dedication, this event would not have been possible. Our hands go up to you all. It was an honour to attend and be part of your beautiful event.

We would also like to thank the Grandview-Woodland CPC for coming out and supporting the 42nd Annual Mother’s Day Powwow. We truly appreciate you volunteering your time today.

Yesterday, VACPC & friends attended the National Day of Awareness for MMIWG2S+ at Grandview Park.

We stood in solidarity to honor and remember Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people, and to amplify the ongoing calls for justice, visibility, and systemic change.

Thank you to the IWRS, the partnering organizations, the families and the community members who created space for reflection, learning, and collective strength.

We were honoured to attend the Canoe Waking Ceremony hosted by the VPD’s Diversity, Community & Indigenous Relations Section.

Following Coast Salish protocol, VPD’s canoe Nchu’7mut (“One Heart, One Mind”) was awakened after the winter season by members of the Squamish Nation. The ceremony marked an important step in preparing the canoe for the Pulling Together Canoe Journey.

It was also a privilege to witness the recognition of Constable Cindy Lavallee for her dedicated work with the VPD.
