Today was not my day, but I am very proud of the positive independent campaign we ran. My message was very simple: we need to build a Vancouver for families, and to do that we need to work together across party lines of levels of government.

I still believe both of those things are true. I sincerely congratulate all 27 people elected tonight. With mixed slates at all levels, I hope they will work together constructively to deliver results for Vancouverites.

I am honoured to have served on the Park Board for 4 years. I am grateful to my campaign team, my family and friends, and every Vancouverite who put their trust in me. Thank you for your support!

I'm running for Council to represent all Vancouverites from all communities. But as the descendent of a Head Tax payer, I'm still proud to be the first Chinese female ever elected to the Vancouver Park Board.

I was born and raised in East Vancouver. My immigrant parents and grandparents struggled to give me the opportunity to succeed. They taught me to work hard, they taught me the importance of service, and they taught me to be firm in my values and keep my promises.

We are all standing on the shoulders of our ancestors; both our parents and the city builders—starting with First Nations—who came before us and made Vancouver the incredible global city it is today.

It is those values, and the desire to build an even better city and a better life for my daughter and her generation, that motivated me to enter politics.

Thank you for your support.

For the average voter, researching all 71 candidates is a Herculean task.

Young people - and young families - need a voice at the City Council table. I'm running to build a Vancouver for families of all shapes and sizes. Join me!

20% of the residents of Vancouver chose our current mayor, and it’s likely even fewer will choose our next mayor in the October 20 election.

Support for independent City Council candidates keeps growing. People want to do politics differently. Council needs to work together across party lines and levels of government to deliver results. I've done that on the Park Board and I'll do it again on Council, to build a Vancouver for families. I'm asking for one of your ten votes.

After 4 years on the Park Board, I'm running for City Council to build a Vancouver for families. More than half of Vancourites say they plan to vote for independent Council candidates like me. Today, I'm asking for your support and one of your 10 votes.

As a new mom, I'm running because we need to make sure young people can stay here and build their lives, their careers, and their families—whatever that looks like to them.

We need more of the right housing to fill the “missing middle” between single family homes and high-rise apartment towers. And we need to do that in a way that respects neighbourhoods.

But we need more than just housing. We need complete communities where kids can play, businesses can flourish, and families of all shapes and sizes can thrive.

It seems likely we'll have a mixed Council after the election.

Having served as Vancouver’s only independent elected official since December 2016, I have a proven track record of working across party lines and levels of government to deliver meaningful results for Vancouverites. I'm not afraid to stand up for common sense.

Let's work together to build a Vancouver for families!

Thanks!

Erin

MOMENTUM KEEPS GROWING!! More than half of voters in Vancouver (53%) say they are “definitely” or “probably” considering voting for independent candidates for Council.

Regardless who is elected Mayor, we need a balanced Council that can work across party lines and levels of government to deliver meaningful results for Vancouverites.

That's what I've been doing on the Park Board, and I'm confident I can work with whoever is elected to Council.

It's time to do politics differently.

More than half of voters are considering independent candidates for City Council.

Transit, transportation, and parking are major issues in and around the River District, so it's great to see Evo Car Share extending its boundaries to include more of Southeast Vancouver.

As a City Councillor, I'll work to make sure plans for transportation and parking keep pace with the development that's happening in the area. Just building housing isn't enough - we need to complete communities with good transportation and transit in order to build a Vancouver for families.

I've been blown away by the support for my campaign to Build a Vancouver for Families. It's down to a few more days to contact as many voters as possible. I need your help. Tell a friend, take a family member to vote, or if you can please chip in a few dollars to help pay for lawn signs, flyers, and of course Facebook advertising!

As young people give up and leave Vancouver, it’s not just them who lose out. It’s everyone. We need to make sure young people can stay here and build their lives, their careers, and their families—whatever that looks like to them.

Families come in all shapes and sizes. So, we need to build more of the right housing to fill the “missing middle” between single family homes and high-rise apartment towers. And we need to do that in a way that respects neighbourhoods.

As a city councillor, I will be relentless about building a Vancouver for families, one practical step at a time.

I’ll focus on child care, seniors care, safe streets where everyone feels welcome, and building not just housing, but complete communities where kids can play, local businesses can flourish, and families can thrive.

I’m not afraid to stand up for common sense, and I’m not afraid to work across party lines to deliver results. It’s time to set aside political posturing, roll up our sleeves, and build a Vancouver for families where no one is left behind.

The independent candidate for city council says her immigrant parents and grandparents struggled to give her the opportunity to succeed—and they also taught her the importance of service and to remain firm in her values.

Small business needs a voice at the Council table.

After almost a decade running my own storefront business, I know firsthand the challenges and opportunities small businesses face in Vancouver.

Let's look at the ever-growing cost of taxes, permits, and fees.

Let's start with reducing parking rates and simplifying and expediting permitting for commercial building, renovating, and remodeling, so that business people can focus on growing their businesses. And let's get government out of the way.

As a small business owner and board member of a Business Improvement Association, I know local businesses help make complete communities.

I want to build a Vancouver for families where kids can play, businesses can flourish, and kids can thrive - and that can't happen without successful businesses, job creation, and a strong economy.

The owners of a long-time Robson Street business are hoping their mind-boggling property tax bill will become an election issue.
