Our commitment to BC's long-term residential leaseholders:

- Long-term financial security in the place you call home

This is part of our broader housing plan, built on one idea: people who work hard should be able to afford a good, secure home here. Housing costs are coming down faster in BC than anywhere else in Canada, and the Speculation and Vacancy Tax has helped turn 20,000 empty units in Metro Vancouver into homes for people.

Our whole team is still buzzing after last night's debate!

David Eby showed he is the only leader with a real plan for the challenges BC is facing, and the clear winner on the issues people care about most: costs, health care, and standing up to Trump. Pundits and political observers said: “It was clear who the Premier was tonight” and that “David Eby came out on top.”

Meanwhile Doerkson struggled:

- Didn’t even attempt to explain how he would pay for his plan, despite being challenged repeatedly by Eby, Lowan, and the moderator.

- Claimed that his campaign director only made one mistake, despite a pattern of racist tweets.

- Admitted that the behaviour of his MLA Heather Maahs towards Elenore Sturko was hateful – even as he keeps her on his team.

- Acknowledged he wouldn't keep the car insurance freeze, but couldn't say how much car insurance would go up.

This willful ignorance and hate has no place in our Legislature.

The Union of B.C. Indian Chiefs is calling on the BC Conservatives to remove John Henderson, their candidate in Powell River-Sunshine Coast, over what it calls residential school denialism.

According to UBCIC, Henderson brought the book Grave Error to Sechelt municipal hall in 2024, while he was mayor, and discussed it with senior staff. UBCIC says the book calls into question the documented history of residential schools.

He was the only member of Sechelt council who didn’t support a motion rejecting residential school denialism. The shíshálh Nation and UBCIC both called for his resignation at the time. UBCIC says he has not apologized.
The BC Conservatives announced his candidacy on October 1, the day after the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. UBCIC Grand Chief Stewart Phillip said it “felt like a slap in the face.

This follows Lorne Doerkson keeping a dozen candidates with hateful views on the ballot. They include Sheldon Clare, who said municipal politicians should be “hanged” and claimed residential schools created “opportunities” for Indigenous children. Doerkson’s campaign director, Katy Merrifield, has called Islam an “abhorrent ideology.”
