Summer can be one of the harder seasons for food and body image.

More events, more pressure, more noise, and with that, a voice telling you that you don't deserve to eat today.

That voice lies.

You deserve to eat. Not because you earned it or ate "perfectly." Just because you're a person, and that's always been enough. 💗

If you're finding this season hard, free peer support is available. No waitlist, no referral needed. Link in bio.

If recovery feels hard today, think of the version of you still waiting... the one who gets to live with more ease, more freedom, more peace.

You’re not just doing this for today.
You’re doing this for every tomorrow. 🌤️

Sometimes the hardest part is finding the words. Whatever you're feeling, however you say it, we're here 🫶

Fifty years. That's how long this participant lived with an eating disorder before finding the support that changed everything.

"Dealing with it has been the hardest work I have ever done," "However, my counsellor was there for me every step of the recovery journey. The affordability allowed me to do this work."

Affordability shouldn't be the difference between accessing care and going without. But too often, it is.

That's why we exist. To remove the barriers that keep people from getting the support they deserve. Recovery is possible. And it shouldn't depend on your bank account. 💗

When overwhelm starts to rise, it can feel hard to know what will actually help. 💭

So we asked our Director of Clinical Services, Kaela, to rate common coping techniques from 1–10 based on how supportive they can be during moments of stress and emotional intensity.

Remember: coping isn’t about doing it “perfectly.” It’s about finding small, compassionate ways to support yourself in the moment.

Save this post for later, share it with someone who might need it, and let us know... which coping tools feel most supportive for you?

Five years ago, just weeks after her final hospitalization, Sierra lost a close friend to an eating disorder. "I saw her for coffee shortly before she passed away," Sierra recalls. "She was a beautiful human - full of energy, passion, and life." The loss still stays with her. "Sometimes I still find myself thinking - why her, and not me?"

Sierra's own journey with an eating disorder spanned nearly a decade. Her eating disorder had taken everything - her joy, connection to others, even her sense of self. Looking back, she is clear about one thing: "Looking Glass is a place that started my recovery. Had I not found this organization, I don't know where I would be."

At a time when she didn't know what help would look like, Looking Glass felt different. "It was the first place that felt safe. I felt very supported." What stood out the most was the patience she was given. "I didn't feel like I was being rushed on my healing journey."

Now, Sierra comes from a place of gratitude and hope. "I'm here," she says, "embracing all of my humanness." Her story is a powerful reminder that recovery is not linear, but with access, compassion, and sustained support, it is possible.

Behind every number is a person who didn't have to face recovery alone.

This is what became possible in 2025 because of you... your donations, your belief that care should be accessible, your willingness to show up for this community.

The gap in eating disorder care is still real. But so is this. 🫶

Thank you for making support possible when it matters most.

The stats in our annual report tell two stories: the gaps in eating disorder care that still exist in BC, and the people showing up to fill them... volunteers, donors, clients, and our team.

Here's what our staff can't stop thinking about from this year. 💗

Mental health isn't just about what we're dealing with individually - it's also about how connected we feel to one another.

This May 4–10, we're joining 's Mental Health Week in calling on all of us to Come Together, Canada. Because connection strengthens mental health. 💙

Safe. Private. At your own pace. Without judgment.

That's what peer support looks like at Looking Glass, and why it works when so many other options feel impossible.

Sometimes the hardest part isn't deciding to reach out. It's finding a place where you actually feel safe enough to be honest.

If you've been looking for that space, we're here. 🫶 Link in bio for free peer support - and visit for more mental health resources and ways to connect this week.
