ECEBC’s Vancouver Coastal Ambassadors held another successful Educators in Motion event last week, which brought together educators, managers, students, instructors, and community members for an inspiring gathering called ‘Community Gallery Event: Processes, Projects and Pedagogy’. This open-format, gallery style event provided an opportunity to share pedagogical projects – past or present – and engage in meaningful dialogue and reflections. The result was a beautiful and welcoming environment where curiosity was sparked, inspiration bubbled, and connections were made and strengthened throughout the room. It was also a fantastic opportunity to share about ECEBC’s province-wide collective work, such as our Ambassador Pilot Project and our journal, The Early Childhood Educator. A HUGE thank you to our generous hosts, Aspire Richmond, and to everyone who made this event such a success. It was an honour to spend time together with you on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) First Nation.

Just published: Read the new open letter from business leaders calling for early childhood education to be treated as essential infrastructure

An open letter released September 1, 2026, signed by a group of 22 Canadian business leaders, calls for early childhood education to be treated as core economic infrastructure.

Pointing to decades of Canadian research about the benefits of early childhood education, the letter “grounds its case in established science” that demonstrates how early learning and child care pays off for child development, family stability and economic productivity.

Child Care Now Executive Director Morna Ballantyne welcomed the letter and says she is hopeful that the federal government will pay attention to it.

“We have been saying for many decades that public investments in early childhood education and care have multiple benefits that spread through the economy,” she said. “The more leaders from across Canada’s economic sectors carry that same message, the harder it is for governments to disregard it.”
