Back to School Means Back to Safety!

Tomorrow marks the first day of school, and that means students—and school buses—will be back on our roads.

As you head out on your daily travels, please take a little extra care and remember:
-School buses will be making regular stops and picking up students along their routes.
- Slow down and be prepared for changing traffic patterns, especially near schools and bus stops.
- Keep an eye out for children walking, biking, or waiting along roadways.
- Be mindful of rural roads where buses, farm equipment, and other vehicles all share the road.

Attention Lavoy Residents:

Please be advised that there will be a traffic closure in Lavoy on 52 Ave between 50 and 51 St. Traffic will be reduced to one lane, with a flagger controlling traffic through the area.

Work is expected to begin on August 31 and is expected to be completed by September 3.

Please slow down, use caution, and follow all posted signage and flagger instructions.

AgriStability Deadline Extended for Alberta Producers

Due to excessive moisture conditions, Alberta producers who missed the original AgriStability deadline can now enrol for the 2026 program until October 1, 2026.

The 2026 interim payment rate has also increased from 50% to 75%, helping eligible producers access support sooner.

Producers affected by excessive moisture are encouraged to contact AFSC or visit the AFSC website for more information.

Local Business Spotlight: Kross Farms - No Till Growing in Canada

This week, we’re putting the spotlight on Kross Farm — a local farm growing healthy, high-quality vegetables while using sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices.

The application deadline for RMA's 2026 post-secondary scholarships is fast approaching!

RMA is proud to offer a post-secondary scholarship program, which is intended to support students from rural Alberta in their pursuit of a post‑secondary education, while also recognizing the important role rural communities play in shaping Alberta’s future workforce and leaders.

If you are a student residing within an RMA member municipality and planning to attend a post‑secondary institution, you may be eligible to apply. Full eligibility details and application requirements can be found on the RMA website.

A little update from Sunrise Acres Bakehouse

First, we want to say thank you for your patience during our little hiatus. We’ve taken some time to step back, regroup, and rethink how we can make Sunrise Acres work better for both our family and our customers.

Moving forward, we’ll be taking orders **by request** rather than opening a set weekly pre-order window.

That means if you’re craving fresh buns, cookies, cinnamon buns, bread, or another favourite, simply reach out and let us know what you’re looking for. We’ll confirm availability and arrange a pickup time that works.

This change will allow us to keep offering fresh, homemade baking while giving us a little more flexibility behind the scenes — and we think it’s going to be a great fit for this next chapter. 🌾
