To apply for the Rental Assistance Benefit, check out the MD of St. Paul Foundation website for more information and to download the application form.

The program is delivered by the Foundation on behalf of the Government of Canada and the Government of Alberta partners under the Canada Housing Benefit.  This initiative is part of the National Housing Strategy and provides funding towards rent assistance benefit.

The Housing & Basic Needs (HBN) Task Force in Vegreville supports locals facing homelessness, housing insecurity, and urgent basic needs—one family, one neighbour at a time.

Thanks to our grant funding we gave helped Vegreville residents secure avoid evictions, meet basic needs, and find permanent homes.✨

The Housing & Basic Needs Task Force is holding a Hotdog Fundraiser at Vegreville & District Co-op Ltd on August 15 from 11 am to 2 pm. All funds that are raised will be used to assist those in the community who are unhoused or are at risk of becoming unhoused.

In 2023, the Housing & Basic Needs Task Force Coordinator conducted a survey that revealed the following:

Out of 170 survey submissions, there were 22 respondents who were found to be housing secure and 148 who were found to be housing insecure.

The top reasons for housing instability:
* Low wages
* Inability to afford rent or mortgage payments
* Mental health issues

Women are 1.9 times more likely than men to be housing insecure.

100% of respondents who identified as q***r, indigenous or born outside Canada are housing insecure.

Although 63% of survey respondents are employed in some capacity, 40% make less than $30,000 per year.
