Mayor Cu***ng shares today’s wildfire response update.

The Bradley Creek and Quilpituk Creek wildfires remain out of control.

To support evacuees, free access to the Vernon Recreation Centre is now available during regular operating hours. This includes access to the aquatics centre, fitness centre and drop-in gym programs.

Evacuees can visit Guest Services and bring their ESS referral number to get access.

FireSmart crews have been out in the community this week connecting with residents, sharing preparedness information, and providing practical tips to help reduce wildfire risk.

Teams have been visiting Canadian Lakeview Estates and Predator Ridge to answer questions, share resources, and help residents learn more about FireSmart practices that can make a difference before a wildfire occurs.

The City of Vernon EOC continues to support residents impacted by the Bradley Creek wildfire through Emergency Support Services (ESS) and ongoing coordination with response partners.

More than 2,600 evacuees have been supported through local ESS response.

Heavy smoke continues to impact air quality. Please take steps to reduce your exposure, monitor conditions, and check in on those around you.

Thank you to all of our volunteers and firefighters for your continued efforts, and to everyone who has donated to support those affected. Your generosity continues to make a difference.

The Bradley Creek Wildfire and Quilpituk Creek Wildfire remain out of control, with concern for upcoming weather and high winds.

We share in deep concern for OKIB and our neighbouring communities. Emergency Support Services remains active daily with emergency shelter space available.

Mayor Cu***ng shares today’s update on the Bradley Creek Wildfire response.

The City of Vernon Emergency Operations Centre continues to support response efforts and keep the community informed. Vernon remains committed to welcoming and supporting evacuees impacted by the wildfire, and we recognize the stress and uncertainty many residents are experiencing.

BC Wildfire Service is reporting no significant growth on the fire. Residents are reminded to remain vigilant, stay informed, and be prepared as conditions can change quickly.

ESS continues to support evacuees at the Kal Tire Place Reception Centre, open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Stay informed, prepare and protect your home from wildfire, and report fires immediately by calling 911 within City of Vernon limits.

The City of Vernon continues to actively support response efforts related to the Bradley Creek Wildfire and is closely monitoring the situation as it evolves. We understand this is a challenging time for many in our community, and we remain committed to sharing timely updates and providing support to those who have been affected.

➡️ Emergency Support Services (ESS) are available online (ess.gov.bc.ca) and by phone (1-800-387-4258) for eligible evacuees. Assistance can be accessed without visiting the Reception Centre.
