This father’s day, a number of members from Vernon Fire Rescue and local 1517 will spend their father’s day helping our neighbors in the Lytton area on the Sawmill Creek fire.

-Operating with Tender-701 they are the only tactical tender (pump and roll capability) on the incident.
- They’ve pumped over 36,000 gallons as of Sunday morning.
- T-701 is one of the busiest pieces of apparatus on the scene.
- They are part of Task Force 2 with an engine from Shuswap, and a Bush truck from Keremeos. There is a total of 4 task forces.
- Their operational period is from 10:00-22:00 daily.

Highway 1 remains closed, the fire is currently 600 hectares, the forecast remains hot and dry.

Wow!! We are very excited to announce that we’ve surpassed our record proceeds (by a wide margin) from the annual RF Brett Memorial Golf tournament with a total of $18,452.30!! We would like to extend sincere thank you’s to everyone who participated and generously donated throughout the day. To our incredible sponsors, we couldn’t do this without you. We can’t thank you enough.
Proceeds from our events like this enable our Charitable Society to donate to many great causes. These include our longstanding firefighter charities like the BC Burn Fund and MD Canada. It has also given us the opportunity to keep funds local to support causes like the VJH Foundation, North Okanagan Hospice Society, BGC Okanagan, and the school lunch programs (just to name a few).
Thank you again to all that came out, and also to all of our off duty firefighters and their spouses for volunteering!! Looking forward to next year already.

Big day tomorrow as we hold our 11th annual R.F. Brett Memorial Golf Tournament. As we continue to prepare, the one thing we realize is that this day could not happen without our incredible sponsors. Built to go where larger apparatus can’t, Wildland 701 gives our crews the ability to access and attack fires in areas that are difficult for a traditional fire engine to reach.

• Ford F-550 chassis
• Type 6 Wildland Engine
• 400-gallon water tank 💧
• On-board pump
• 100’ booster reel
• Over 1,000 feet of quickly deployable forestry hose
• 3 portable pumps carried on board
• Medical equipment
• Hand tools and chainsaws

🚒🥎 Another Great Weekend of Charity, Competition, and Camaraderie!
The Vernon Professional Firefighters were proud to take part in the annual Kelowna Firefighters Charity Slo-Pitch Tournament, joining departments from across British Columbia for a weekend of ball, laughs, and great company.
While we didn’t bring home the trophy, we were proud to support an event that raises important funds for organizations like the BC Burn Fund and the Kelowna Firefighters Charitable Society.
A huge thank you to the Kelowna Firefighters Charitable Society for organizing another outstanding tournament and bringing firefighters together in support of such important causes.
