As the Bradley Creek Wildfire continues, Vernon Fire Rescue Services firefighters remain committed to protecting our community while also providing assistance where it is needed most.

Our crews continue to monitor conditions throughout the City of Vernon while firefighters have also deployed to the Bradley Creek Wildfire to support wildfire suppression efforts alongside our provincial and regional partners.

We encourage everyone to do their part to help keep our community safe:

🔥 Stay away from active wildfire areas and obey all road closures and evacuation orders.

🚫 Follow all fire bans and restrictions.

📢 Stay informed through official sources and avoid spreading unverified information.

🚗 Be prepared and always have an emergency plan.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to all firefighters, Emergency Support Services (ESS) volunteers, emergency responders, partner agencies, neighboring fire departments, local governments, and community organizations working tirelessly to protect people, property, and our communities. Your dedication, teamwork, and support make an incredible difference during challenging times.

Vernon Firefighters Local 1517 just want to remind all boaters to stay clear of aircraft working in and around the Bradley Creek Fire on the northwest side of Okanagan Lake.

Fire suppression aircraft need sufficient space on the water to effectively and safely fight this wildfire. We ask that all refrain from traveling to this area so they can achieve that.

Early last month, Vernon Firefighters Local 1517 proudly competed in their first-ever FireFit Competition at the BC Regionals.

The team made an impressive debut, earning a head-to-head race victory in their very first competition. It was a great start and a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved.

We’re excited to continue building on this success and look forward to growing the program and representing our community at FireFit competitions for years to come.

We want to thank Delta firefighters Local 1763 for putting on such an amazing and successful event.
