If you had burn permits and burns this winter, please go check them and make sure they’re good. The wind we had today could have roosted out another one. My eyes scanned the horizon all day. We are in a very vulnerable position right now as ground conditions are not great for heavy trucks full of water. It’s the season of a 1000 stuck fire trucks for another couple weeks. We can’t fight fire stuck in the mud.

Bit if a humbling experience today. A gentle reminder of how easy it can happen.
Burned some yard debris between snow storms couple weeks ago. Had a foot of snow on it and cold. Put panels around it to keep livestock out on Tuesday. Nothing.
That wind today somehow rekindled an ember. We could have lost a lot of feed as it was maybe 100 yards from the stack and moving. Ugh.
Thank You!! to Veteran fire, Consort fire and anyone else who aided in containing and extinguishing this potentially devastating catastrophe.
It’s not everyday the Fire Chief fights his own fire. Sigh…………………

Every day you either win….. Or you learn.

Today we learned. Only cost us about 10 fence posts. All thanks to Volunteer Firefighters and the will to keep ranching.

Bonus part? Found the fence stretchers we lost 5 years ago. Thanks Jaime Anhorn-Glazier

Big THANK YOU!! To all who assisted with the liner rollover today. Sure nice to see so many show up and help!! Having the livestock dealt with by outsiders is a huge help for us.

💙 It’s First Responders Week — a time to pause and honour the firefighters, police, paramedics, sheriffs, corrections, and emergency workers who keep Alberta safe every day.

You show up for all of us — through tough calls, long shifts, and unseen challenges. This week (and always), we thank you. 👏

Let’s keep the conversation going around mental health and wellness support for first responders.

Your inconvenience is not more important than someone’s life.

When firefighters and EMS are on the road, we’re doing critical work: patient care, extrication, traffic hazards, and public protection.
Stop when you see the lights.
Drive to the conditions so you can stop.

Help us keep everyone safe — including you.
