Some Resident Concerns & Updates

Beach Storage. We've received some concerns from residents about paddle boards, surf boards, beach chairs, canoes, etc., being left on beaches overnight. We understand the convenience of leaving those items for the next days' use however should a high water event occur, those items could be damaged, be carried away, or cause damage to stairs. They are also easy to steal if left on a beach unattended. Please take your beach chairs and beach toys with you when you leave the beach.

Free Items littering the roadsides. This year we've seen everything from broken lawn chairs to kids games, mirrors, tables, umbrellas, sets of frying pans, even pillows - left on the road side. Please take your useable cottage discards to the Fall Rummage Sale trailer and shed beside the outdoor pickleball courts, or even to the Wings of Power in Pine Falls. If you have larger items for the fall Rummage Sale please go to the Beaches CC website and look for the Fall Rummage sale contact person. If your discards are really not reuseable, please dispose of them accordingly.

Brush Pick-Up is almost complete. Crews are working on the areas off of PR504, the VRA is 95% complete. All other areas are done. No more brush can be put out on the roadsides. Thank you for your cooperation.

Stay safe this weekend as you enjoy the many events happening in the community. There's the Masters Tennis tournament, swim races, Lake Winnipeg Foundation Walk for Water, Summer Winds, Sand Castle Building, breakfast at the Beaches CC., the Saturday Market, pickleball play and more!

Manitoba Hydro - Planned Power Outage
Wednesday, July 15, 2026 - 8 am to 4:30 pm

In conversation with MB Hydo, they have advised that the power outage scheduled for July 15 will occur. "The area from Beaconia to Victoria Beach and Sagkeeng First Nation will be impacted, to safely complete some repairs. We anticipate the power will be out from about 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., affecting about 6,400 customers. In May, a pole fire knocked out power to this area and we were able to restore it via some temporary repairs. We need to permanently replace the pole and related equipment, and to do the work safely the lines must be de-energized. Getting this work done now will help avoid an unplanned and potentially longer outage later. Hydro realizes the inconvenience this causes and appreciate our customers’ patience and support."

The RM's Municipal Emergency Coordinator has put together some information to ensure you are as prepared as you can be for this outage.

⚠️ PLANNED MANITOBA HYDRO POWER OUTAGE – WEDNESDAY, JULY 15
Manitoba Hydro has scheduled a planned power outage for Wednesday, July 15, affecting a large portion of the East Beaches region, including Victoria Beach.

HOW TO BE PREPARED:
✅ Before the Outage
🔋 Charge cell phones, tablets, laptops, battery packs, radios, rechargeable flashlights, and any other essential devices.
💧 Have enough drinking water on hand for everyone in your household.
🥪 Consider preparing meals or sandwiches ahead of time to reduce the need to open your refrigerator during the outage.
🧊 Freeze a few bottles of water or ice packs to help keep food cold and provide cold drinking water as they thaw.
🥶 Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible during the outage.
🚰 Conserve water during the outage where practical and postpone non-essential water use, such as lawn watering, until power has been restored.
🔦 Have flashlights readily available and avoid using candles whenever possible.
🔥 If you plan to use your BBQ, check that your propane tank is full before Wednesday. Never use a BBQ or other fuel-burning appliance indoors or in enclosed spaces.
💊 If you rely on electrically powered medical equipment or have medications that require refrigeration, make arrangements in advance if needed. If you're unsure how to store refrigerated medications during an outage, contact your pharmacist for guidance.
☀️ Stay hydrated and avoid strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.
🐾 Make a plan for your pets, especially if your home may become too warm.
👥 Check in on family, friends, or neighbours who may need extra assistance.

📍 VICTORIA BEACH COMMUNITY INFORMATION
💦 The Victoria Beach and Albert Beach water treatment plants will remain operational using backup generators.
🚱 Although the water treatment plants will remain operational, please conserve water where practical during the outage, as a large number of residents will be affected at the same time. No lawn watering.
🏥 The Victoria Beach Medical Clinic is normally closed on Wednesday mornings and is expected to open for its regular Wednesday evening clinic following the planned outage.
🏗️ The Public Works Office will be closed during the outage.
🥐 The Victoria Beach Bakery plans to remain open; however, if temperatures inside become too hot, they may close before 4:00 p.m.
🛒 The Victoria Beach Store (next to the bakery) will be closed during the outage.
🏪 Saffies General Store is unable to confirm whether they will be open and will provide an update if that changes.
The Social Scene will be closed.

📱 Please continue to monitor Manitoba Hydro and the RM of Victoria Beach website for updates before and during the planned outage.
Thank you for taking a few simple steps to prepare. A little planning ahead can make the planned outage much easier for everyone.
