ELECTION OFFICIALS NEEDED

VOTING OFFICERS IN VICTORIA BEACH AND WINNIPEG

Voting officers to staff polls will be needed if the municipal election is held.

We are recruiting now and will confirm with interested individuals by June 22. All voting officials must participate in a two-hour training session. Polls must be open from 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. and workers would be present 30 minutes in advance and must stay on site until assigned duties are completed.

TRAINING:

$50 for a 2-hour session, one session for all workers.
Wednesday July 8: 10:00 am - 12:00 noon.
To be held at the RMVB office, 2035 Portage Avenue AND East Beaches Social Scene

ADVANCED VOTING DAYS:

$275/day. No vote counting required. Expect to work 7:30 am-8:30 pm.
Thursday, July 16: RMVB Office Winnipeg. Two poll clerks required.
Saturday, July 18: East Beaches Social Scene. Four poll clerks required.
(Note that the Summer Winds Festival is on at the Beaches CC that weekend)

ELECTION DAY:

$350/day. Vote counting required. Expect to work 7:30 am- 10:30 pm.
Friday, July 24: RMVB Office Winnipeg. Three poll clerks required
Friday July 24: Beaches Community Centre. Nine poll clerks required.

PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE WHO COMMITT TO WORKING BOTH ADVANCED AND ELECTION DAY.

ASSIGNMENTS BASED ON PROXIMITY TO POLL LOCATIONS.

THE RURAL MUNICIPALITY OF VICTORIA BEACH

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the following days:

June 12, 15, 16, 17 and 18, 2026 between the hours of 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the following location: 2035 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba; and

June 16 and 17, 2026 between the hours of 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the following location: East Beaches Social Scene, 3 Ateah Rd. Victoria Beach, Manitoba;

Nominations will be received for the offices of Mayor/Head of Council/Reeve (1) and Councillor (4) for the Rural Municipality of Victoria Beach.

The Nomination deadline is June 18, 2026 at 3:00 pm. Nominations cannot be accepted after this day and time.

All Nominations shall be made in writing and shall be signed by at least twenty-five voters. Each Nomination shall also be accompanied by the Candidate's Declaration of Qualification.

Nominations may be filed in person only at one of the above locations, on the date and hours specified. To obtain a Nomination paper, and / or Candidate's Declaration of Qualification, contact the Senior Election Official at the telephone number listed below.

Nomination papers not accompanied by the required documents and not properly filed shall be rejected.

Staff and contractors are working on the issues.
A boil water notice is in effect until further notice.

Census Reminder

Collection for the 2026 Census is well underway across Canada, and there is still time for Canadians to complete their questionnaires online at www.census.gc.ca. The online process is confidential and secure.

Census data help municipalities better understand and plan for the needs of their communities, including services and infrastructure related to housing, transportation, emergency services, child care, health care, and community planning. These data support local decision-making and help ensure resources and services are aligned with changing population needs.

For households who have not completed their census or submitted incomplete questionnaires, census employees may follow up in person or by phone. Every census employee will clearly identify themselves and have an identification card.

The fire ban has been lifted for the RM. We ask that residents and visitors continue to be FireSmart and aware of fire risks.
Fireworks are never allowed, open fires only in approved fire pits with RMVB permits.
Stay safe, protect yourself and your community.

RMVB FIRE BAN IN EFFECT IMMEDIATELY.

No open fires, no ATV's on trails. Fireworks are never allowed.
Conditions are hot and very dry. Stay safe, stay hydrated.

Council Meeting Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at 7 p.m. at the Social Scene

Prior to the Council Meeting, Manitoba Property Assessment Services will be making a brief presentation to Council on the 2027 Tax Impact at 6:30 p.m., the public are welcome to attend.

Residents are also invited to attend a Meet the Assessor Open House on Saturday, June 27, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Social Scene.

Municipal Updates - Friday, May 29, 2026

If you are on VB Connect you would have received the following notices on our water systems (May 29) and on brush pick-up deadlines (May 28). Please ensure you are signed up for VB Connect, our emergency and information system. Go to our website, www.victoriabeach.ca and scroll down the page to the VB Connect box, click and fill in your information. Please use your Victoria Beach address.

The Boil Water Advisory has been lifted for both the Albert Beach and Victoria Beach water systems by the Province of Manitoba. Municipal water is now potable and safe for consumption.

Brush Pick-Up Deadline Dates - In the VRA the deadline to pile brush at the end of your driveway is Friday, June 19. Outside the VRA the deadline is Friday, June 26. If you can and are able to, please help Public Works staff by taking your brush and dropping it off west of the Garbage & Recycling depot. Brush piled after the deadline will be subject to a fine of up to $1,000 as per RMVB By-Law #1609.

FireSmart Brush Clean Up Event is on tomorrow, Saturday, May 30 at the Village Green Bakery area from 9 a.m. to ? Coffee, hot dogs and drinks provided for all volunteers. Ensure you wear appropriate clothing, footwear and gloves. Bring your water bottles, rakes and loppers and volunteer with community members to help reduce the risk of wildfires in our community spaces.
