Manitoba Hydro - Planned Power Outage
Wednesday, July 15, 2026 - 8 am to 4:30 pm
In conversation with MB Hydo, they have advised that the power outage scheduled for July 15 will occur. "The area from Beaconia to Victoria Beach and Sagkeeng First Nation will be impacted, to safely complete some repairs. We anticipate the power will be out from about 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., affecting about 6,400 customers. In May, a pole fire knocked out power to this area and we were able to restore it via some temporary repairs. We need to permanently replace the pole and related equipment, and to do the work safely the lines must be de-energized. Getting this work done now will help avoid an unplanned and potentially longer outage later. Hydro realizes the inconvenience this causes and appreciate our customers’ patience and support."
The RM's Municipal Emergency Coordinator has put together some information to ensure you are as prepared as you can be for this outage.
⚠️ PLANNED MANITOBA HYDRO POWER OUTAGE – WEDNESDAY, JULY 15
Manitoba Hydro has scheduled a planned power outage for Wednesday, July 15, affecting a large portion of the East Beaches region, including Victoria Beach.
HOW TO BE PREPARED:
✅ Before the Outage
🔋 Charge cell phones, tablets, laptops, battery packs, radios, rechargeable flashlights, and any other essential devices.
💧 Have enough drinking water on hand for everyone in your household.
🥪 Consider preparing meals or sandwiches ahead of time to reduce the need to open your refrigerator during the outage.
🧊 Freeze a few bottles of water or ice packs to help keep food cold and provide cold drinking water as they thaw.
🥶 Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible during the outage.
🚰 Conserve water during the outage where practical and postpone non-essential water use, such as lawn watering, until power has been restored.
🔦 Have flashlights readily available and avoid using candles whenever possible.
🔥 If you plan to use your BBQ, check that your propane tank is full before Wednesday. Never use a BBQ or other fuel-burning appliance indoors or in enclosed spaces.
💊 If you rely on electrically powered medical equipment or have medications that require refrigeration, make arrangements in advance if needed. If you're unsure how to store refrigerated medications during an outage, contact your pharmacist for guidance.
☀️ Stay hydrated and avoid strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.
🐾 Make a plan for your pets, especially if your home may become too warm.
👥 Check in on family, friends, or neighbours who may need extra assistance.
