Some property owners on Salt Spring, Denman, Hornby, Gabriola, Galiano, and North Pender islands may have recently received notices from the Province regarding short-term rental accommodations (STRAs).

Islands Trust would like to clarify that it is not conducting a broad audit of STRAs in the Islands Trust Area.

The Province administers the provincial STRA registry and related compliance processes. While Islands Trust may report apparent bylaw non-compliance identified through regular processes, provincial notices are not necessarily the result of action taken by Islands Trust.

Residents with questions about notices they have received are encouraged to contact the Province directly: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/housing-tenancy/short-term-rentals
