The Caring Families Society is a Grassroots organization committed to providing meaningful and accessible support, education and networking services which will continually enhance the skills and abilities of foster parents to deliver the best care possible to the children in their homes. Regional Office Area (Greater Victoria): We would like to acknowledge and thank the Lkwungen people known as Songhees and Xwsepsum (Esquimalt) ancestors and families who graciously allow us to live, work and play on their traditional and ancestral territories. We are expecting CARF surveyors to visit on November 5 and 6 and Taonga is feeling quite confident about it. We work really hard all year round to ensure we are meeting CARF standards and look forward to receiving their feedback about where we might be able to improve our policies, procedures, and services going forward.

It was a beautiful long weekend for a half marathon! The Caring Families team is celebrating Krista today for her hard work and dedication to the Kilometers. She's trained consistently and strategically for a long while so that she could participate in the Royal Victoria Marathon. This milestone is her biggest yet and builds on several other successful community runs and 600+ kms of ground covered this year. Krista crossed the finish line in her Canadian Wonder Woman costume as bystanders cheered!

Join us in celebrating Krista, AND let us know what you are celebrating today! We'd love to cheer you on as well - big or small!

There's a lot of conversation and understanding to be had when it comes to The Act. Trauma-informed Transition Training for Foster Caregivers was designed to support the changes introduced through the Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, youth and families, with a focus on strengthening pathways that reconnect Indigenous children and youth with their families, communities, and cultures.

The eight session workshop also addresses a critical gap in accessible, trauma-informed training for caregivers, offering learning that can contribute to caregiver education plans while remaining grounded in real-world practice.

Foster caregivers are always asking the question: "what is in the best interest of the child?" and since every home and every child is unique it can be very comforting to be in connection with fellow caregivers that may have lived similar experiences.

Gather and learn with like minded foster caregivers that are keen to develop relationships, and know trauma-informed transition practices.
