Thank you to the Scrappy Jack Pass-Through Fund for the generous donation to the Greater Victoria Rent Bank. This donation through the The Victoria Foundation helps to ensure those who are not eligible for loans are able to receive grants to prevent homelessness.

The Climate Equity by Design project, conducted between August 2023 and July 2025, aimed to understand the unique experiences and perceptions of climate change impacts among equity-seeking communities in Victoria.

Climate equity focuses on the fair allocation of resources and opportunities to adapt, recognizing that equity-seeking groups often face disproportionate risks. This project underscored the disproportionate climate impacts and adaptation barriers for equity-deserving groups in Greater Victoria. Informing a multitude of overarching and targeted recommendations for the capital region.

By embedding equity into adaptation strategies, systemic inequalities and prioritizing support for those most at risk can be addressed, enhancing their ability to build resilience.

In addition, engagement through this project found extreme weather events, deforestation, and the loss of biodiversity to be respondent’s top climate-related concerns. With 100% believing climate change is a ‘global issue’ that requires immediate action.

The time to act is now. Read the full report here,
