The Gardens at HCP Connecting People with Plants since 1979 Vancouver Island's "Hidden Gem" has 103 Acres of Gardens.

The Horticulture Centre of the Pacific is a registered nonprofit dedicated to connecting people to plants since 1979. There are nine acres of award-winning demonstration gardens, educational workshops for all ages, the Pacific Horticulture College for those pursuing a career in landscape design, special events, event rental space, and an additional 100-acre conservation park. 🌿 We’re reminiscing on 32 years of art, music & community in the Gardens!

Each year, the Annual Arts & Music Festival in the Gardens brought the HCP grounds to life with local artists, makers, musicians, food, flowers & most importantly, our wonderful community. From wandering the garden paths to discovering new artists and soaking up live music, it was a beautiful celebration of creativity in one of our favourite outdoor places 💚

This year also marked the debut of the Sustainable Floral Art Installation Competition. This brand-new way to bring botanical art into the Gardens challenged artists to think creatively about sustainability, materials + place 🌸🌿 We were especially thrilled to have Katherine Olmstead IMF, Victoria-based floral designer & Canada’s first International Master Florist, supporting this exciting new addition to the festival. Katherine earned her International Master Florist title in 2023 through the Boerma Institute in the Netherlands + brought her expertise in sustainable floral design & installation to the competition.

From immersive floral installations to handmade creations, live performances & garden discoveries, this year’s festival was a reminder of just how much creativity grows when we bring people together.

Thank you to every artist, musician, vendor, volunteer, staff member and visitor who made Arts & Music in the Gardens 2026 so special. 🌱🎶🎨

Anyone else notice the change in the air in the mornings recently? 🍂 Almost like... September begins tomorrow!

There are so many ways to enjoy the transition into autumn at the Gardens. From hands-on workshops, to the final Yoga in the Gardens sessions, HCP Kids programs, our Fall Plant Sale, and more.

We’re putting a spotlight on our amazing HCP Kids program leads HCP Kids! 💕

Throughout Arts and Music in the Gardens, our Youth Program leaders brought so much creativity and fun to the cozy lawn in front of Charlotte & The Quail 🥗🤍🌸 , with activities for young garden visitors all weekend long!

Thank you to Cynthia Mackey 📚🍂🍁🐝🌻 for her amazing storytelling interspersed with music! Her books "If a Bumblebee Lands on Your Toe" and "Butterfly Sea" are carried in our Gift Shop year round.

And we can’t forget Imogen and Jake’s “Lavender Dreamin’” chair: a playful, fragrant installation enjoyed by so many, and such a wonderful interactive contribution to our very first Floral Art Competition. The throne was created using lavender and poppy seed heads grown in the Kids Garden, with natural plant “fluff” tucked among the moss for an extra dreamy layer of texture.

Our little corner of the gardening world grew past 6,000 followers over the weekend, and we’re feeling very grateful to be reaching more of our community as of late!

A beautiful look back at Arts and Music in the Gardens through the lens of VanIsland.life

We’re so grateful to the Van Island Life team for coming out and capturing the atmosphere of this event... The artists, music, gardens, floral installations, and all the little moments in between!

Join us this Sunday, August 23rd, from 10am to 11am for a special book signing with Debra Prinzing, acclaimed author of The Flower Farmers, in the Bonsai Garden at The Gardens at HCP.

The beautifully photographed book profiles flower farms across North America, including Saanich’s own Fleuris Orchard & Blooms, and the growers helping shape the Slow Flowers Movement.

What a weekend!

A huge thank you to all of the incredible vendors, artists, musicians, volunteers, visitors, and community members who made the 32nd Annual Arts and Music in the Gardens happen. We are so grateful to everyone who brought their creativity, energy, time, and support to the Gardens this weekend.

We’re open today and getting ourselves (and the Gardens!) back together after a very full weekend with lots of wonderful moments still to share.

A rare chance to take home the work of celebrated Canadian artist Graham Scholes 🎨

Graham is widely recognized for his mastery of traditional Japanese woodblock printing, a meticulous process that involves carving each colour layer by hand into wood, inking the blocks, and building the final image one impression at a time.

His celebrated British Columbia lighthouse series helped bring his work to national attention and became a remarkable artistic record of the West Coast. Over his career, Graham’s work has earned recognition in Canada and internationally, with pieces held in major public collections.

This weekend, Graham has generously donated two artworks to support Arts and Music in the Gardens:
