We are committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible region where everyone can participate. We continue to work toward identifying, removing, and preventing barriers across our services, programs, facilities, and public spaces so people of all abilities can access them with dignity and independence.

This National AccessAbility Week, from May 31 to June 6, letโ€™s celebrate the achievements, leadership, and contributions of people with disabilities, while recognizing the importance of continuing to build more accessible communities and workplaces for all.

Want to take action? Wear red for Red Shirt Day on Wednesday, June 3 and show your support for accessibility and inclusion. Together, we can raise awareness, challenge barriers, and celebrate the strength and diversity of our communities.

If you have experienced barriers while accessing CRD services or facilities, please share your feedback with us by visiting https://ow.ly/UXBr50Z5eQ3

Register for a FREE Get to Know Your H2O Tour!

Greater Victoria's drinking water begins it's journey in a protected reservoir, surrounded by healthy forests that naturally filter and safeguard our drinking water supply.

Come experience the connection between the water supply area lands and the water you rely on every day. Register for a June tour https://ow.ly/HCZc50Z5I3N

One of the most important ways the CRD protects drinking water is by safeguarding the water supply area. Greater Victoriaโ€™s primary water supply comes from the Sooke Lake Watershed, with additional supply from the Goldstream Watershed and future supply planned from the Leech Watershed. The CRD own...

Help Reduce Peak Water Demand in Greater Victoria ๐Ÿ’ง

Many irrigation systems are programmed to run at 4, 5, or 6 am causing large spikes in water use across the region which strain our systems.

You can help by:
-Watering between 12:01 am and 10 am, while avoiding peak hours of 4, 5, and 6 am.
-Set your timer to an irregular time like 12:17 am instead of right on the hour.

Small timing adjustments can help maintain steady water pressure and protect the system we rely on. Get more seasonal watering tips at crd.ca/outdoorwater

Everyone is up and out enjoying the beautiful spring weather that are known for, including the black bears! ๐Ÿป

This time of year, they love to munch on emerging greenery and blooms after sustaining themselves for months on only their own fat reserves.

If you are fortunate enough to see one of these beauties on the trail, be sure to give them lots of space to minimize conflict. Hiking in groups, talking or singing, keeping dogs leashed and carrying bear spray are ways that you can ensure black bears stay wild and you stay safe.

05/26/2026

As of June 1, at 7am, BC Hydro will close the Galloping Goose Regional Trail through Viaduct Park to Cecelia Road.

During the closure, one-kilometre detours for pedestrians, cyclists and wheelchair users will be in place 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. There is no public access to the construction zone. All trail users must keep out of the closure zone for their safety and follow all posted signage.

This closure is due to the Victoria to Esquimalt Cable Replacement Project. For more information and a detour map visit: https://ow.ly/BcwW50Z3OiN

BC Hydro is working closely with the CRD and the City of Victoria on this closure, as planned infrastructure upgrades north of Viaduct Park will extend the length of the closure on the Galloping Goose Regional Trail. As these projects begin, the detour route will change. Forthcoming work may begin as early as mid-July and continue through March 2027.

The CRD alert https://ow.ly/uJ8C50Z3OkP and detour signage on site will be updated to provide advance notice of any changes to the closure or detour. We thank the public in advance for their patience during the closure.

With summer on the horizon, itโ€™s a good time for a reminder on seasonal park petiquette! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ–๏ธ๐Ÿถ

Dogs are not allowed to be on a designated beach or picnic area between June 1 and Sept. 15, except to pass through on a leash, without stopping. Because we all love the idea of happy pups in parks, but maybe not so much the idea of accidentally sharing our lunch with them!

Find out more about on-leash areas and seasonal prohibition zones by visiting crd.ca/petsinparks.
