The District of Saanich is calling on the province to reinstate funds to the Community Housing Fund to get [the Garth Homer Society Centre for Belonging] project back on track.

“The province needs to reverse course, reinstate the Community Housing Fund, and work with municipalities and non-profit partners to build the affordable housing our communities need,” says Phelps Bondaroff.

The councillor tells CHEK he cycles past the society every day on his way to council.

“It’s a really important project,” he said.

Artists from ArtWorks take iconic paintings and make them their own for their June exhibition at Archive ARC, Remix the Masters: adding characters, new elements, and their own techniques and mediums. The Masters never saw this coming.

Join the artists for the opening reception on June 5 from 7pm-9pm! The exhibition will be open from June 6 - June 21, 2026.

The walls of SJ Willis are about to have a makeover thanks to all of the new art created at the Paint-In!

Participants across all programs came together for two afternoons to create painted artwork, colourful flowers, and stained “glass” lanterns galore. Some chose to take their artwork home to enjoy, while others shared their creations to brighten their program spaces—and we’re so grateful!
