Family Resource Programs are found in communities across BC. They go by many names, and are found in different places.

But no matter what they’re called, or where you find them, Family Resource Programs share one key purpose: connecting families with young children to community and support.

Family Resource Programs, also known as Family Drop-Ins, are welcoming local places where families with young children ages 0-6 can play, learn, connect and find support.

In the last 15 years, researchers in childhood disability have explored using 6 F-word’s to support building connection and focusing on strengths of children, youth and families with therapists, education and other community programs. Talking about fun, family, friends, fitness, function, and future lead easily into current interests and upcoming goals for families!

Reasons staff are enthusiastic about using F-words:
☑️ Focuses on strengths and interests of children and youth that we may not learn otherwise
☑️ Supportive for families, allowing them to direct the goals we are working towards
☑️ Allows for collaboration across different partner organizations with more consistency
☑️ Allows families to get to know our interests too!
