Roe was a founding member of our recycling system. RIP buddy!
Romeo Joseph Beneteau of Vulcan passed away at the Vulcan Community Health Centre October 5, 2023 at the age of 76.
Romeo was born November 12, 1946 in Windsor, Ontario. Romeo was a farmer for most of his life, alongside his brother Harvey, who loyally supported each other throughout their entire lives. They left the family farm in 1969 when Romeo was 23, and headed west. They found themselves farming in Manitoba for 14 years before making their way to Alberta in 1989. The worked in Coronation, and then in Arrowwood and Mossleigh, where they decided to start a tire recycling business. In 1991, they settled in the town of Vulcan and bought a building downtown to run their business. They sold that business in 1997 and started work with the Vulcan County Transfer Station, where they remained until retiring in 2013.
In 2013, Romeo's health was in decline, but he always remained a constant in his brother's life. Romeo and Harvey enjoyed travelling and visiting amazing places such as the Yukon, Alaska, the Arctic Circle and various places in Saskatchewan and the northern United States. Romeo will surely be missed by his brother Harvey.
Romeo is survived by his sister Jeanette Bezaire of Ontario, his brothers Harvey Beneteau of Vulcan, and Clayton Beneteau of Michegan and their families.
He was predeceased by his father Harvey Beneteau when Romeo was 11 years of age, his mother Lorette Cote when he was 18, his sisters Angela Marontate, May Houle, Marguerite Mailloux, his brothers Martin and Donald Beneteau.
A gathering and Inurnment will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 1:30 pm at the Vulcan Cemetery with Celebrant Peter Holukoff officiating.
