Thank you to everyone who attended last night's Walk for Wenjack at Riverbend Park in Walkerton, and the screening of The Secret Path at the Walkerton Branch of the Bruce County Public Library on Tuesday. Your generous donations are being provided to both Saugeen First Nation and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation Food Banks. The Municipality extends our gratitude to Elder Shirley John of Saugeen First Nation for her blessings and participation on a walk of remembrance of Chanie Wenjack's journey, and all children taken from their families, communities, and traditions to be brought to residential schools. We honour the the survivors, families, and communities, and remember those who never returned home. We remain committed to strengthening meaningful relationships with our Indigenous communities, and ensuring that your truths are heard and respected.

🧡Engage in meaningful and reciprocal relationships with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples through things like community events, cultural gatherings, or workplace opportunities.
💜In your community or workplace, encourage belonging and acceptance by creating spaces for diverse voices and perspectives to be heard, centred, and celebrated.
