🚒 Little Learners, Big Futures! 📚✨

Walpole Island Fire Department was proud to attend the Junior & Senior Kindergarten Registration and School Readiness Fair yesterday! 🚒📚

It was a great opportunity to connect with families, answer questions from our youngest community members, and see so many smiling faces. We always enjoy supporting events that help set our children up for success and build positive relationships early on.

Thank you to the organizers for the invitation — we’re always happy to be part of such a meaningful day in our community! ❤️

🚨 Structure Fire – Creek Road Update 🚨

Earlier today, the Walpole Island Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire on Creek Road.

Thanks to early detection, the fire was identified and extinguished in its early stages, helping to significantly limit damage to the property. Early notification truly makes a difference.

This is an important reminder to all residents to test your smoke alarms regularly and ensure they are in proper working condition. Working smoke alarms save lives by providing the early warning needed to act quickly. 🔔🏠

Crews have since cleared the scene and are back in station, ready to respond to the next emergency.

Stay safe, Walpole Island. 💪🚒

🚒✨ DISTRICT 1 UPDATE ✨🚒

We’ve got some EXCITING news to share… District 1 can officially move under its own power! 🙌🔥

This is a huge milestone in bringing this historic truck back to life. Hearing it run and seeing it move again is truly a special moment for our department and our community. ❤️

We still have a checklist of items to go through before we can call it parade ready 🛠️🧰 — but this is a major step in the right direction. Every bolt tightened, every system checked, and every small victory brings us closer to fully restoring this incredible piece of Walpole Island Fire Department and Walpole Island First Nation history.

If you would like to support the restoration of District 1, we still have our GoFundMe available. Every donation — big or small — helps us preserve this proud symbol of our fire service legacy for future generations. 🙏🚨

Thank you to everyone who has supported, donated, and cheered us on so far. Stay tuned… more updates to come! 👀🔥

🚨 Early Morning MVC Response – Walpole Island Fire Department 🚨

Early this morning, the Walpole Island Fire Department responded to two separate motor vehicle collisions (MVCs) within the community.

Our crews worked diligently to ensure both scenes were made safe. Fire crews have now been released from both incidents. Police remain on scene at the location of the first MVC to continue their investigation.

⚠️ Please avoid the area of the first collision if possible to allow emergency personnel to work safely and efficiently.

Unknown if alcohol was involved in these 2 incidents but we would also like to take this opportunity to remind everyone:

🚫 Do not drink and drive.
Choosing to drive impaired puts your life, your passengers, and our entire community at risk. Plan ahead. Arrange a safe ride. Make responsible choices.

We thank our members and partner agencies for their continued professionalism and dedication to keeping Walpole Island safe.

Stay safe!

🚒✨ WIFD District 1 – Update ✨🚒

There’s something special about history… and today, we’re proud to share that WIFD’s very first fire truck – District 1 – has been moved back into the barn to protect it from the elements. 🌧️❄️☀️

This truck represents the roots of the
Walpole Island Fire Department and the firefighters who paved the way before us. ❤️🔥

Here’s what we know so far:

🔧 The engine is currently not seized

💡 The electrical system is working

🛞 The tires are holding air and move

💪 With some elbow grease and dedication, we believe we can get her running again!

This isn’t just an old truck — it’s a piece of our community’s history. And we’re committed to preserving it.

Stay tuned as we continue working on District 1 and bring you more updates along the way. 👀

Family is the heart of everything we do — whether it’s the loved ones who support us behind the scenes, our fire family who stand shoulder to shoulder, or the community we are proud to serve every day. Today is a reminder to slow down, spend time together, and appreciate the people who matter most.

Stay safe, enjoy the day, and know that from our family to yours — we’re always here when you need us. 🚒❤️

🚨 Smoke Alarms Save Lives 🚨

Late last night, the Walpole Island Fire Department was toned out for a possible structure fire. Upon arrival, crews observed light smoke coming from a tiny home. Thanks to a working smoke alarm, the fire was detected in its early stages, alerting the homeowners quickly.

The homeowners were able to safely extinguish the fire prior to fire crews arriving on scene. Firefighters completed a thorough investigation and confirmed the fire was fully extinguished, with no extension into the walls or ceiling.

This incident is a strong reminder that working smoke alarms save lives and protect property by providing early warning when seconds matter most.

✅ Test your smoke alarms regularly

🔋 Replace batteries as needed

🏠 Ensure alarms are installed on every level of your home
