Cyclists rolling through Riding Mountain National Park this weekend 🚴

It’s going to be a busy weekend on the Riding Mountain Parkway as cyclists take on two exciting events.

Saturday, May 30 – Grand Fondo
Riders will travel the full length of the parkway from Northgate Trailhead to the Southgate entrance and back. Expect cyclists along the entire route between 10 am and 3 pm.

Sunday, May 31 – Provincial Time Trial
Cyclists will take on a timed climb from Northgate to Hilton Trailhead before coasting back down. The event runs from 9 am to 11:30 am.

A few things to keep in mind
• Watch for cyclists along the parkway 🚴
• Hilton Trailhead is closed during both events
• Parking is not permitted along the roadside. Use designated trailhead parking lots instead

Great energy, great rides, and a great weekend to be in Riding Mountain National Park 🌲✨
Thanks for helping keep everyone safe out there

⚠️ Weekend Update – Riding Mountain National Park ⚠️

Heading into the weekend, visitors should use caution when travelling on Highway 19 due to spring conditions. Expect soft, wet, and uneven surfaces, and watch for red markers in rough areas. Please slow down and drive with care.

🚧 At the Wishing Well Day Use Area, one bridge has been closed as it is no longer safe. Barricades and signage are in place, and removal is planned. The area remains open, with access to the wishing well still available via other bridges.

☀️ Now for some good news… It’s shaping up to be a beautiful weekend at Clear Lake! Parks Canada crews have been hard at work all week, and all docks are now in the water along the lakeshore path 🌊

It’s starting to feel like summer in Riding Mountain National Park. A perfect time to head down to the lake, take in the views, and enjoy a day by the water 🌲✨

🔥 Fire Danger is High in Riding Mountain National Park 🔥

Riding Mountain National Park is currently experiencing high fire danger conditions. While there are no fire bans in place at this time, we’re asking all visitors to take extra care to help prevent wildfires.

✅ Keep campfires in designated fire pits or approved appliances only
✅ Never leave your fire unattended
✅ When you’re done, soak, stir, and fully extinguish your fire

Small actions make a big difference in protecting our park, wildlife, and communities. Thank you for doing your part and staying fire smart. 💛🌲

🛠️ Temporary Closure for Playground Improvements

Have you noticed the big pile of woodchips in the Wasagaming main parking lot? 👀

👉 Starting May 25, the Wasagaming playground will be closed for a short resurfacing upgrade. This important maintenance is expected to take approximately 2 to 3 days and will help keep the space safe and enjoyable for everyone. 🌳

Thanks for your patience while we complete these improvements. We’re looking forward to welcoming visitors back to the playground very soon. 😊

🌲 Got trails on your mind? Make sure to check the conditions before you go!

Things are shaping up nicely out there… trails across the park are drying out and becoming more accessible for early season exploring. 🌞

Recent winds did bring down trees in some areas, and trail crews have been busy clearing debris and getting routes ready for the season. 🛠️

Here’s some of the work happening behind the scenes:
✅ Culvert repairs underway on Strathclair and Central trails
✅ Picnic tables repaired or replaced at backcountry sites
✅ New signage installed along the East Escarpment Network

It’s a great weekend to get outside and explore what’s opening up across the park. Check out the most recent trail conditions and updates here: 👉https://ow.ly/on7f50Z3n4g

🚤 Heading to the water? Make your AIS inspection quick & easy!

Before you visit the AIS inspection station at Riding Mountain National Park, here are a few tips to help you get on the water faster:

✅ Motorized watercraft:
Make sure your battery is connected to your motor
You’ll be asked to lower your motor during inspection to confirm it has been properly drained

✅ Drain plugs:
Please remove them before you arrive
Remember: it’s the law—watercraft cannot be transported with the plug in

✅ Bring all your gear:
Planning to use towables (tubes, etc.)? Bring them along so everything can be inspected at once

ℹ️ Sticker update:
AIS station stickers are expected by the end of next week. If you’re visiting before then, you may need to return later to pick up your sticker—we appreciate your patience!

Long Weekend. Wild Moments. 🐻🌱

Wildlife is out and on the move this May long. It is one of the best times to experience Riding Mountain National Park.

A few small habits help keep those moments wild:
• Keep food and garbage secured
• Clean up picnic spots before you leave
• Give animals the space they need

The more wildlife can stay wild, the better it is for them and for you. Have a great May long weekend and enjoy your time in the park 💚
